I am honestly afraid to conceal carry as a black male, I need advice

Long story short, I live in Minnesota and all these riots is making me feel unsafe. I want to protect myself, family/friends, and my property from rioters. However, the one thing that is in the back of my mind is, "What if a cop pulls me over" or "What if someone sees my gun and then prejudges me as a criminal just because I'm black and then the cops are called"There's a lot more pros right now for me to conceal carry but the con of becoming swiss cheese is pretty fucking big. In Minnesota you do not have to tell the officer that you are licensed CCW owner. When LE asks you have to tell of course. I know some people will say not to tell LE unless asked but I'm not sure how I feel about that.I just applied for my permit to purchase (free in my state) and should be approved soon. The gun I have in mind is the SIG P320 Compact and I am opting for an appendix holster. I want the gun hidden as much as possible which hopefully an appendix holder will do so.Thanks for the help guys! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/36M5xlI

Carrying a 1911 with grip safety and FPB in condition 0 vs M&P

How is this any different? The M&P has a drop safety on the trigger, the 1911 has its drop safety on the grip. They both have FPBs so the firing pin won't drop unless the trigger is pulled. The often debated point is the short trigger pull on the 1911. The M&P may have a longer trigger pull but the striker is still cocked to 98% unlike a Glock's 70% or so. When you add an aftermarket trigger like an Apex to the M&P it shortens the trigger pull and weight significantly, wouldn't this be equivalent to carrying a 1911 in condition 0?I don't want to debate the potential legal aspects of aftermarket triggers in carry guns via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Xmo457

Can minors carry OC spray in Michigan?

Hey reddit, I looked on Google a bit and reddit's search but I wasn't able to find an answer one way or the other that I'm confident in. Does anybody know for sure if minors are prohibited from carrying OC spray in Michigan? I know that it's prohibited to sell OC spray to a minor, but are they prohibited from carrying it? References appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3gGiEJN

I hope reddit can help with this

I bought pistol legally in ND at store with just driver license since I was a resident there.Drove to Upstate NY with pistol where I though I could just put it on my NY permit that I've had for 30 years. I also live in NY.When I went to office to put on my permit, they said it needed to be sent dealer to dealer. Now the only option I am hearing is to turn it in to sheriff and they will eventually give it back to me with document. I want to avoid this option if possible since they would probably just keep it.Any thoughts?? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Xl3MZS

CCW fanny pack?

I'm going to be doing a lot of outdoor athletic activity (coaching, playing sports, etc) this summer and need a fanny pack that can accommodate a full-sized pistol, doesn't scream "There's a gun in my bag", and doesn't flop around like crazy when you're running.Does such a thing exist? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3gHgJob

Question on filling out Ohio CCW application

Fellow Ohioans I need your help, I was filling out my CCW application and when I got to question 17 in section 3 it asks if I am a resident in another state which I am not so I answer no but does that mean I skip the next part asking for a "state of residence/ If a resident of another state, are you employed in Ohio?" or fill it out and if I fill it out which box is the right one as if I answer no it means I am not employed in Ohio which I am as I live here but if I answer yes that says I live out of state which I dontA similar thing happens in section 4 with questions 12-15 where they ask " If you are an alien admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa, do you fall within any of the exceptions set forth in the instructions to question 12 on the ATF Form 4473? (If you meet any of these exceptions, you must provide supporting documentation)?" as a citizen how do I answer this? there is no n/a box it is yes or no.Questions 13 and 14 want to know the state of residence(if any) and country of citizenship which feels obvious as I am a citizen of the USA so I'm guessing its either just a redundancy or something I don't need to fill out. IDKFinally question 15 " If you are not a citizen of the United States, what is your U.S.- issued alien number or admission number?" which I don't have as I am a citizen so would I leave this blank as well? Thanks for your help in advance with this it makes me feel like an idiot not knowing how to fill this out via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2AohYrR

Safe for off-body carry?

I know that many people reccomend against off body carry, but I dont like hiking with my CCW on my belt. I have a small bag with a hook and loop panel, and I purchased one of these holsters:https://ift.tt/2ZZSzjb seems secure movement wise, but I’m not sure if I should be carrying with one in the chamber (on a Glock). Budget-friendly OWB holster recommendations?

I have a Glock 19.I say budget-friendly because I don't plan to regularly open carry. This is more for around the house, hiking, that kind of thing. I would prefer if it had adjustable retention.I have a Vedder LightTuck IWB and I love it. Just not sure I want to spend $50 on this one. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2XjYZHT

How do you deal with open carry for defense of self and property private/public?

With what is going on now days I’m forced to think more about gun ownership, 2nd amendment and response. So my question deals with things like the video of the few armed men protecting the business from rioters and police. I understand that a gun is a good deterrent on its own. But what happens when that's not enough? Most of us would agree there is a wise choice,if not obligation, to avoid a problem but you have decided to stand in the way of a problem. So say a group 8-12, 10-20, 50-70, whatever, are are aggressively, but not all blatantly violent, headed down the street towards your business or home and you are outside openly armed. Where is the unmarked fire line? Are you willing to shoot? What if one unseen in the group throws something? Is everyone then guilty by association? This is a serious question, I known I listed open carry but has similar application to CCW and y'all generally seem to be in my camp of avoiding problems then some other subs almost eager to throw down. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2XliJLw

Drew For The First Time

Was somewhere in Ca and at 75 yards away we see two people wrestling with each other. First we thought they were play fighting then after further examination we saw it was a man and a woman fighting. We approached quickly. At this point he was choking her with both hands and had her pinned against the hood of his car. Friend yelling at him and pulling him off and he’s not quitting. I think to myself about how much time she’s got while he’s got her like that so I yell “stop I’ve got a firearm get your hands off of her”. As I’m unholstering but not yet pointing it anywhere else but at the ground/safest direction possible for this scenario/ location. He immediately stops and backs off and yells at me and says he has one too. I say I don’t care don’t touch her. They take off together and I take off.I told myself my whole damn life I’m never getting involved in anything like this unless it was literally myself or my family but there I was..........stupid guy was choking her and my friend couldn’t pull him off of her so I just did that.Help me answer this please. Was it justified?Should I inform the police? Should I inform the issuing ccw department of this? I don’t think anybody saw. I don’t want any trouble from this in the future.Reporting the domestic violence wouldn’t work because I have no idea who it was or have a plate number or anything. Plus the woman was yelling “he’s fine” and defending him so I don’t think she’d report it. Should I still report it anyway?I feel stupid, I don’t ever get involved and I don’t want to ever get involved but the guy was choking her........what would y’all have done?It worked he stopped choking her right away and backed off and ended up leaving. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2zNrkxh

What is the best tool for self defense, that is easily portable, and can keep a person at a distance?

So im aware that you should never try to fight if you don't have to, and running is always your best option, but it seems like violence and division are escalating and would love a way to defend myself

Always carry/why I am applying for a CWP Tomorrow

Tonight was a game changer for my perspective of CCing. Just a couple of hours ago(10:30ish) I was having a wonderful dinner with my extended family on King Street in Charleston, SC (The Rarebit) when the group of rioters threw a table from another restaurant through the front windows and what sounded like shots coming from the street (I was locked in a tall booth, couldn’t see). Chaos ensued and I felt completely helpless with only a small knife on me. We evacked to the alley behind. In all of my near-death experiences, I never felt as helpless as I did a few hours ago. Never negatively viewed CCing, but never applied myself. Tomorrow, as soon as I get my car and pitch in with cleanup, I’m headed straight for the closest gun shop to seriously look at/buy a concealable gun and definitely applying for my permit at a minimum.TL;DR: Me and my family were unwilling victims of the riot on King Street, Charleston and I’m applying for a CC permit. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2TWtQbt

Glock 43 EDC?

As stated, what do y’all think of G43 as an EDC? Haven’t got my CPL yet (MI) but think of it, honestly, as a perfect CC gun, 6 rounds or not, great gun all around, never had a single problem and would put my life on it. What do y’all think? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3cmHfQu

Battle of the 9mm grain

Hello fellow concealed carriers. I wanted to get your opinion on what grain you use for 9mm for defense purposes and why. (Sorry 45, 40 and revolver folks). I have used 147 grain for years, but I'm starting to wonder if I was just an impressionable new gun owner who believed that the 147 was the best from the guy at the gun counter. S&W M&P Shield 9 Question

Hi All, so I purchased a M&P shield 9mm last week and when I brought it home I went to field strip and clean it up a bit since it was super oily and greased up. Well long story short the sear deactivation lever fell completely out of the gun and after some quick contact with S&W they wanted me to send it in for closer inspection/repair. I am under the impression that there should be no way this lever could just fall out so the integrity of the trigger assembly may be in question. I was planning on getting my ccw soon and using that pistol as my edc. I have never owned a S&W being still relatively new to the gun community, so my question is, should I be concerned with the reliability of this firearm as a CCW? I have head a lot of good things about S&W and how reliable their firearms are but the fact that this happened on a brand new gun was a little troubling especially if I may have to rely on it in a self defense situation. Thanks in advance! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2zBsPyP

How would make use of my 4 Glock pistols for CCE, Home Defense, Vehicle Carry, etc.?

Which would you use for home defense? Which would you CCW on hip? Which would you CCW at Appendix area? Which would you shoulder holster?Obviously not all at once. I’m just trying to figure what would make the most sense with what I have. Another obvious one would be the G42 for ankle carry.I have:G42 (subcompact .380) G43X (single stack 9 mm, grip is G19 length and slide is G26 length) G48 (single stack 9 mm, like G19 split in half), G26 (subcompact, double stack 9mm)Thank you! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Mg4Tnf

Hemp-derived CBD Products and Firearms

Long time lurker, first time poster (thanks to all of you, this community rocks!). I've seen a few folks on here asking about CBD products in the past and figured I'd shed some light on the topic. I won't include any identifying information to avoid self-promoting.I recently started a CBD business and in doing so, hired on a lawyer and asked a shitload of questions to assure compliance. One of which was asking about the combination of hemp-derived CBD products and firearms. As far as I could tell from my research, since the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp-derived CBD is no longer on the controlled substances list, so I didn't think it would be an issue owning firearms and hemp-derived CBD products. Sure enough, I was correct! Hemp-derived CBD products and firearms are perfectly acceptable to own simultaneously. CBD derived from marijuana still remains on the controlled substances list, but hemp-derived CBD is perfectly fine. Hemp-derived CBD products are classified as having less than .3% of THC. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3gAytSs
