[WA] CCW applications are effectively SUSPENDED

Hello from an epicenter of the American covid-19 outbreak!Washington was, until now, a "shall issue" state. After getting fingerprinted and applying for a Concealed Pistol License (CPL), the state guarantees that, if you aren't disqualified, you will have your license issued in 30 days. The ability to get fingerprinted is being severely limited at this point. For most areas, finger printing can happen either at:Certain local police/sheriffs stations (not all), appointment often requiredThe courthouse in Seattle, no appointment necessaryMany sheriffs offices are closing down fingerprinting and other services, to help slow the spread of coronavirus. I have only documented a few areas. They include:Thurston CountyShoreline PD (serves the cities of Shoreline and Kenmore, in King County)Snohomish CountyBuckley Police DepartmentI'm sure there's more. Feel free to look at the websites/facebooks/twitters of these organizationsAccording to the Washington State Constitution:SECTION 24 RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS. The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impairedThe suspension of CPL applications is absolutely impairing the individual's right to bear arms in self defense. WA doesn't require a license for open carry, but it's a bit tricksy. Firstly, many grocery chains have stated they do not wish their patrons to open carry. Secondly, one cannot open carry in a way that manifests "an intent to intimidate another or warrant alarm for the safety of other persons." So you can easily open carry over in Snoqualmie, because who cares? But do the exact same thing the Capital Hill neighborhood of Seattle? Someone is going to get figuratively Triggered. Additionally, a CPL is required to carry a loaded firearm in a personal vehicle.Nobody knows what the future holds right now. And in these uncertain, potentially perilous times, this is absolutely abhorrent. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3d4VR8W
