Are budget guns really that bad?

I’m a new gun owner with a Taurus G2C and a Taurus 605. As I’ve been researching into firearms for self defense I began to realize that a lot of people in the community tend to rank on whoever doesn’t have their big name gun. To be honest I could really care what anyone has so long as their firearm works for them. I’m pretty much putting this out there for budget firearm owners like myself and i really shouldn’t do this.
