Looking to get the perfect gun for me to carry.

I live in California and am looking to buy a gun to take to handgun classes and then eventually to the CCW course. I enjoy and am most comfortable with .22 handguns, so I'd really prefer to carry that in the future.I found a gun shop near me selling a Walter P22lr that is legal in Cali and is lightweight and small enough to carry.
