Hi All,First off thanks alot to this sub and if anyone here is a member pafoa.org.You all gave me a ton of info and advice to get me where I am. I plan to stick around here and help other new people with questions. Along those lines I wanted to post how its been going my first week after receiving my PA LTCF.Gear. Take this sub's advice and don't get a 15 dollar piece of shit holster from amazon and tuck it in your walmart belt. You don't have to go for the $100 holster and $200 belt either. Just be reasonable. I got a 5:11 trainer for casual wear. as well as a trackline belt + alien gear holster and have been very happy. More importantly my gun and my pants are staying up. Don't buy shit. You're using it for a deadly weapon. You want the holster and belt to be reliable.Your weapon. What I will say is, don't buy too much into everyone's hype over the current darling gun. Get something you shoot well and like the features of. I was torn between a glock 26,43 and an XD. I ended up settling on an XD subcompact. There were a ton of factors but what it really came down to is I'm new to this. I know how guns work, I know the safety rules but I've never walked around with one day in day out. The grip safety was not the deciding factor but rather the striker and loaded chamber indicator. Being able to tactile and visually see what the status of my gun is seemed good to me. While waiting on my permit I debated this and almost swapped to the glock 26 for the larger aftermarket. Boy am I happy I stuck with my choice. The visual ques are helping me be confident with where my gun and bullets are at. Maybe I'll feel differently 3 years down the line, but if you're new and want a safety or a RMR or a gun with a neon yellow laser get it. Whatever you are looking for on the gun, get what you want so you feel confident to have it in your pants daily. Take some pointers from folks here as to what is reliable, but make your own educated choice don't just buy into glock or gtfo, or as of late p938 or bust.People are right, no-one knows you are printing. I just went to the vet with my dog and my girl with a way too tight tshirt on, with a double stack gun, with the big magazine in it. I was in close contact with 2 people at the vet holding my dog while she got vaccinations. No-one had any clue. If they did they didn't say anything. No-one other than gun owners know what printing is, none of them think twice at your extra belt loop and even if they do, fuck it you're doing so legally.Plan transitional spaces because the first time you deal with wanting to re-holster outside of your home, you're going to feel weird. I had a long car ride and took my weapon out and placed it into a holster I got for my car (that's a good place to use that $15 amazon holster!). I then had to re-holster at the vet, in a parking lot where there were people. Plan this out so you don't feel freaked out. I did. Again, don't feel too freaked out because no-one cares or knows what you are doing if you fiddle with your belt behind your door for a second. Also if anyone more experienced can comment to this that would be cool.Shoot the shit out of your gun and get used to it. Smaller guns are harder to shoot well. Get some snap caps and practice failures. A semi auto gun is STUPID easy to clear but you want to practice it not just know it in concept. I've shot more the last 6 months than the last 2 years and I still want to take another class or two. Thanks again to everyone again. I really hope this helps someone new. If you're new and have a question I'm happy to help too. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/1TopfHk
