I already know what the "smart" thing to do is, here, but I'm just curious as to your opinions in regards to this scenario. Moral considerations, personal feelings, opinions on how the law and/or public might see it, etc. are all welcome.Imagine you come across a car wreck and a man is trapped in his vehicle. It appears to be at risk of catching on fire and (despite the smart thing being to just stay away) you attempt a rescue after calling 911 and being told that it will be some time until rescuers arrive. As you are bending over and trying to get good purchase, he happens to see your weapon. As you are trying to pull him out with little success, the car does indeed catch on fire, and the flames quickly make their way to his position. You recoil back from the flames, but he reaches out to you.He is unquestionably going to die, burning alive, and no prudent person would expect that he can escape. Engulfed in flames, he begs you to kill him.Would you? COULD you, legally? Would you do it anyway even if you knew you'd likely face consequences for it? Could you mount a solid defense for yourself in court? Would video evidence of him begging you to do it help you?I've pondered this a lot, despite it being pretty much certain to NOT happen, but I think it's an interesting way to examine some legal and moral questions it would raise. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/1XHquTa
