Arm Drags - The Quick Trick to END Re-Drags!
Picked this up at a Craig Douglas seminar when working with some fellow BJJ black belts. The premise was we were working towards the back and/or a split seatbelt grip through the use of an arm drag or duck under. This was done for controlling the weapon draw. This slight adjustment can shut down the chances of a re-drag when you are performing an arm drag. Worth trying! Let me know your thoughts.

IWB and hip pain
I'm in my mid-60s and have carried for about 5 years. My setup is an M&P 2.0 compact in a Vedder kydex, IWB at 4 o'clock. Over the past couple of months I've been experiencing worsening hip pain on my carry side, and I'm starting to wonder if my carry rig might have some small impact on my walking gait and/or sitting position that over the years has had a cumulative effect that's now starting to show up. Anyone else of similar age ever experience something similar? I'm considering a move to OWB if I can find a holster that still conceals well. Thoughts? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/qedngG1

Bought a Streamlight TR-1 for my CCW. How do you stop it from turning on accidentally?
Title. So following recommendations I got a TR-1. The light itself is fantastic but the way you turn it on is a little rocker that takes no force at all.Multiple times it's turned on in my CCW and I haven't noticed and the battery burns through fast.I noticed once because my inner thighs started to get hot.. but that's not ideal. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/SZcvahP

Robbery scenario question
Hypothetically speaking, if you’re ever in a scenario where a threat is for some reason or another searching your person and about to come across your concealed weapon, are you justified in using it to protect yourself? Just for the sake of assumption I’m assuming they don’t have a weapon because obviously if there is a weapon involved then I believe the use of lethal force in self defense is justified legally. But let’s say they are trying to get your wallet or something and feeling you up and for some reason or another you are unable to back away and remove yourself. If they are just taking your money and not threatening you with lethal force am I correct in understanding that I cannot use my firearm to defend myself? Is it legal to brandish it and point it at them to deter them from advancing? Or is that a charge! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/CXBdiQx
Holster recommendations
Anyone have a AIWB holster recommendation for a Hellcat Pro w/ TLR-7 Sub? Looking for something with good trigger coverage (as far as WML go) and a great (preferably adjustable) claw. Have a T1C Axis and the trigger coverage is atrociously bad. I can pull the trigger with it holstered but I love the claw and the fact you buy “stacks” to make it larger or smaller. Also have a Werkz M6 that has much better and acceptable trigger coverage but the claw is basically useless and there’s no option for making it larger minus wrapping tape around it. Any suggestions? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/KJ3LYdE

Visiting Restrictive Jurisdictions - What Do You Do?
I'm new to this, having moved to a constitutional carry state for the first time recently, and I've been wondering. I still have a lot of family and friends who live in much more restrictive states. What do y'all do when traveling to states with strict firearm laws?By "strict" I'm curious across the whole spectrum from minor inconvenience to basically no right to carry a firearm for a non-resident visitor (like CA/NY).If you plan on visiting a place regularly (taking care of elderly family, for example) where your current permit does not have reciprocity, but a non-resident permit is available, is it worth doing? How big of a hassle is it to get non-resident permits in general? If a non-resident permit or reciprocity is available, but the state imposes its own requirements on magazine capacity different from your home state, does that become an issue? Do you need to buy new state-compliant magazines, or can you do a partial load or temporary conversion with magazines you already own to comply as a visitor? If no permit is available and there is no way for you to legally carry in your destination, what do you do? If staying with family, for example, and if you are legally allowed to possess and transport your firearm, would you bring it with you for home defense use even if not allowed to carry it outside the home? Or just not bother? For concealed carry in public in restrictive jurisdictions, what other self-defense tools do you replace a firearm with when not legally allowed to carry one? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/cafuGFv

Dog Attacks
I witnessed two dog attacks this past summer. Both situations were at campgrounds. The first one, a dog forced its way out of a car to attack another dog that was being walked nearby. Both owners tried to pull them apart, but just got bit when they did. My group had a ton of kids playing nearby and the best we could do was get the kids away. The second one, an eight year old kid from my group went to get a ball about 50 feet behind the next campsite over. The dog ran straight for the kid and bit him in the back as he ran away. The dog stopped and went back as the kid's dad and I got there. Both situations made me wish I had been carrying at the time. I might have taken the shot in the second situation, but it happened fast and it's hard to tell the difference between a chase and an attack before it's too late.I wouldn't want to have to take a shot that close to a kid, so I'm thinking pepper gel might be the proper tool for the situation. That way the gun can be the backup plan. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/wHhrVgG
Online Training
I am a husband and a dad of 2 young children(<5)that also works 3rd shift, as such I have very little time to take in person classes. I do however have plenty of time at work that I could watch videos or read.I know companies like WPS, Fieldcraft survival, and sheepdog response have courses that are offered online like pistol 1 and 2 classes as well as some others. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of these or anything else like it?The kind of courses I am really interested in(if they exist) are stress inoculation training, situational awareness, or decision making in a DGU scenario. via /r/CCW https://www.reddit.com/r/CCW/comments/10kwi9x/online_training/?utm_source=ifttt

What is a good “lazy Cary” gun?
So I normally carry a Glock 45. Which works for me because I feel confident shooting it well. But I don’t really want to carry it all the time. If I’m just going up the street or somewhere low risk (whatever that means to you, different for everyone) I don’t want to strap up with an almost full size 15round gunI was thinking a small .38 or .357What do you all carry in situations like this? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/e7LSCxO

Stun Gun Question
I've personally decided not to own a firearm. I bought a stun gun (might upgrade to a full blown taser at some point but those things are expensive. I live in a building with very questionable security so I had to buy something) and want to make sure I have everything nailed down in terms of how to legally carry it. I've posted NC state law about it below. It sounds to me like I can carry it, it just has to be open. Right? Would any sort of concealed carry permit allow me to carry it concealed?(a) It shall be unlawful for any person willfully and intentionally to carry concealed about his or her person any bowie knife, dirk, dagger, slung shot, loaded cane, metallic knuckles, razor, shuriken, stun gun, or other deadly weapon of like kind, except when the person is on the person's own premises. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/DRGuS1e

Daily reminder that fitness is just as important if not more so than having a gun on your belt
Don’t neglect your physical fitness as an important aspect of self-defense. Afraid to carry chambered? Use snap caps and wear them around the house.
Yes, modern firearms are safe and won’t go off unless the trigger is pulled. But that’s why it’s called an IRRATIONAL fear. You can get over it though with a training tool you should already have. Around the house, wear your gun/holster combo with a live magazine, but only a snap cap chambered. If you are wearing a proper holster with rigid support around the trigger guard, I promise it won’t go off. Then take the plunge and chamber a live round when you go out. The first time you do it, you’ll never go back. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/pWq4TbL

Defending yourself is not Escalation
I'm sure alot of you saw that post on here a couple days ago asking when escalation was warranted. People in the comments said things like "kidnapping, rape, armed robbery, shootings, etc" and it made me realize that alot of people don't understand what escalation means or what it means to escalate a situation. To make it clear, if you are already in a violent life or death encounter, such and being abducted, raped, shot at, having a gun pointed at you, and you defend yourself, THAT IS NOT ESCALATION.Escalation means turning a nonviolent or nondeadly situation into a violent or deadly one. Some situations where brandishing/shooting would not be escalation: Being raped, Being abducted, Being shot at, Having a gun pointed at you, Someone actively breaking into your home, Having a knife pulled on you at close range. In these situations the attacker has already initiated a life or death situation. Some examples where brandish or shooting ARE NOT warranted and would be escalation: Getting yelled at, Getting honked at, Getting shoved, Seeing a fight going on and jumping in, Shoplifting, Someone fleeing the scene of a robbery. If your life is not in immediate danger and you draw and or shoot you are making the conscious choice to escalate a non-deadly situation into a deadly one and you will face legal consequences, in addition to putting your life and yhe lives of those around you in danger. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/qsUnH9V

Conceal carrying in hot climates?
Hey y'all. To start, I am brand new to carrying so go easy please, I've got a lot to learn. As I am starting to carry, I've got a few questions/issues:How they hell are y'all concealing when it's like 100 degrees out? I'm in Texas, I know every other person down here has a firearm on them. Yet, I never notice. I can't help but feel like the buldge when I carry is obvious. Does everyone just wear shirts that are too big? Or what is the best placement when it's super hot and you wear less bulky clothing? In the winter it's easy to hide because of a hoodie or flannel.Where do y'all wear your firearm on your hip? Right now I tend to wear between 1-3 o'clock. However, I can't shake the concern I'll accidently shoot my dick off. I've tried between 3-6 o'clock but then it's extremely uncomfortable to sit anywhere. For context I'm currently carrying a Steyr C9 A2 MF with an IWB holster. What have y'all had success with regarding this stuff? Thanks everyone. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/MGE8Fhv
Etiquette on Discussing CCW with family and friends
Hi everyone, a relative newbie here with a newbie question. If it doesn’t belong here, let me know and I’ll remove.Currently in process of getting my CCW in CA, and just curious how folks handle the discussion when it comes up. Personally, trying to stay secretive about it with friends and family who I’m not sure where they stand on the topic. Hell, it’s been a decade of convincing my wife. But is it really that big of a deal? I don’t want to advertise it by any means, but when it comes up I look like I’m hiding something by dancing around the topic.Just curious how others have handled it. Personally I don’t care too much, I just want to avoid future discussions on it. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/JEItSTL

Shouldn't happen but it can, What's your response when someone makes you and asks "Is that a gun"?
Obviously concealed is concealed but what is your response if someone asks something along the lines of "Are you carrying a gun" or if you reach for something at a store and a little kid says "hey mommy look he has a gun". There is also the occasional hug from a friend/loved one and they happen to feel it and ask (no perv jokes). You get all of the scenarios what is your response? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/yKlZ3dq
Alec Baldwin to be charged with involuntary manslaughter
https://ift.tt/HZmpDvW the article:The actor “had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun — or anywhere on the movie set. He relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds. We will fight these charges, and we will win,” Luke Nikas said in a statement. It sounds like he ignored the first rule of gun handling safety, always assume the gun is loaded until you verify for yourself. Instead, he's handed a gun by "professionals" and just starts pulling the hammer back and releasing it while it's pointed at someone. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/4jOJ9hf
