I live in Southern California and received my CCW earlier this year. I make an extra effort to carry it almost anywhere I go. This happened two nights ago. My wife and I are redoing the garage and we decided to go to Home Depot to pick up some drywall. We decided, hell, let’s just take my girls, 6 and 7 years old, too. Picked up some drywall and few other things and we pay. Lady asks if I needed any help to load the drywall in my truck and I looked at my wife and said yes. Lady tells me, ok roll the cart out just outside the front door and she’ll have someone meet me there. I roll out the cart and I’m standing on one side of the cart and the girls and my wife on the other side of the cart. I reach down to tie my laces and I here a crash of something falling on the other side of the cart. As I stand back up and look, my wife yells, he’s stealing something. However, I look at her and I ask, what? The guy had run out of the store with a box with what look to be a drill motor but had dropped his phone, while running out, at the feet of one of my little girls, as he one was running out. That was what I had heard fall. So as I looked up at her and asked, what? I didn’t see that he was ducking down to pick up his phone. This all happened very quickly. He rises up next to my little girl and she says again he’s stealing something. This Meth-head turns and looks at me and proceeds to walk over and jump on his bike that was laying in the floor and begins to take off. As I’m watching him, I realize right next to him, was his 350 pound, fat-ass partner on a bike already and he begins to try to stare me down. I’m looking at him and he at me and he has one hand in his pocket. Mind you, my wife and my daughters are right between us and they’re focused on the Meth-head riding down the parking lot but I’m looking at this fat fuck looking at me. I reach to begin to pull my shirt up but stop and he sees that and we just sit there. My wife is saying something and I can hear my girls saying something but it’s not really registering. I’m just focused on this fuck’s hand. I honestly thought it was going to get bad fast. Very slowly he begins to ride off while looking at me and it all ended there. In hindsight, I see that I should of stepped to the side to change the possible trajectory of any round hitting my family. But I didn’t. That would of been all on me. I may have got a serving chance. Anyway, I look over at the workers through the glass doors and they just tell me it happens about once a day on average now. They don’t seem to have any guards or security anymore. They just let them go. The fuck could of or not had a gun. I’ll never know. But I thank God nothing happened in the end. You see, here in California, as of 2019, as long as what you steal is less than $900, you’ll only get a ticket if you get caught. It’s a joke now. So this happens quite often everywhere now. So much so that this week alone, in San Francisco, Walgreens announced that they are closing 5 stores because they can no longer operate under these conditions. That’s life here now. It’s literally turning back to the Wild, Wild West all over again. All while California makes it harder and harder to own guns and buy ammunition. I live in Orange County, one of the last, as close to a conservative county as you can get, with a great conservative Sheriff that issues CCWs, right next to LA County, one of the worst. Remember, you may laugh at us now, but as always, as California goes, so does eventually the rest of the country, sooner or later. THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO VOTE!!!! Lastly, my lesson is, I can now understand that whole tunnel vision thing that they say you will experience if you ever may need to use your weapon. It’s real! I may have gotten lucky or it may have been nothing. Practice, practice, practice and take lessons people. You may not get a second chance. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3BNIiGT
