When does light have to be low enough to justify tritium over fiber optic

Like the title says, i think most people would argue that FO is optimal in the daytime/moderate light. Do you need to get to pitch black for tritium to take over as the better sight? What do you prefer for a ccw firearm?I ask bc i am shopping for cz p07 sights, and debating a standard black rear tritium front vs. black rear FO front. Cant get TFOs or anything with both FO/Tritium for the p07 i believe. Thanks in advance! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3zbETRH

MO permit messed up?

I just got my MO permit in the mail (Jackson County) and the entire process has been a total shit show. There are a couple of “mistakes” on my permit being that my height is off by a few inches and the color of my eyes is wrong, and most notably the “signature” at the bottom, is just my name in someone else’s handwriting. Is any of this an issue that’s worth pursuing, or should I just leave it?For context, I’m hesitant to reach out to them since the CCW office here is run by one lady who seems to absolutely hate her job and seems pretty incompetent. I called the office back in July to setup an appointment and no one answered so I left a voicemail. She called back and the second I answered she started berating me about how my cell phone blocked the Sheriff’s office line and so she had to call with her cell phone and make the number private. She then proceeded to argue with me about the reason for why I’d need a permit since we have constitutional carry in MO (I need it for reciprocity with other states since my UT non-resident permit doesn’t cover some states that I frequent). As I’m explaining all this, she starts demanding that my UT permit doesn’t mean anything in MO (it does, but that was irrelevant anyway), and was all but refusing to let me make an appointment. Finally, she explains that appointments are 3-4 months out, done on paper, and can’t be made until you’ve already taken your required class (which seems asinine to me, but I agree anyway). I take the class a week later and the instructor happens to be a deputy at the Sheriff’s office and agrees that the lady in the office sucks. Fast forward 4 months and I finally get a call (from a much kinder, receptionist) to schedule my appointment, so I schedule the earliest date available. I go in with everything I need, and the not so nice lady from before comes out of her office (the door of which is plastered with signs that says things like “if your phone rings your appointment will be immediately canceled” and “no food or drink or your appointment will be canceled”) and pretty rudely demands all of my required paperwork one-by-one while I’m just standing in the lobby, and then tries to tell me that the class certificate I have is fake because the instructor didn’t write some number on it that was supposed to be there. I point out that it was taught by a deputy there and offer to call him and she reluctantly says “no, it’s fine”. She disappears into her office for a while and eventually comes out to get me so she can fingerprint me. When everything’s all done I ask if the permit will be mailed or what once the background check is approved, and she says they have 45 days to complete the background check and that they’ll mail it out once complete. I ask if there’s any way that I could pick it up instead since I’m going on vacation soon and would like to bring the permit with me if possible, and she (surprisingly) agrees and takes down my phone number to call me once it’s ready. Fast forward another week and it’s the day before I leave for vacation, so I call and ask if my background check has gone through yet and she doesn’t even check but just says “they have 45 days”, so I’m like yes I know that, I want to know if it’s done now so that I can come pick it up. Sure enough it’s been approved and she says that they mailed it out (opposite of what I asked for, but at this point it’s whatever). Fast forward 2 more weeks (no idea why it took 2 full weeks to mail a letter about 10 miles away) and my permit finally arrived in the mail today. I manage to remove it from the mess of scotch tape attaching it to my application, and notice that the lamination on the front is totally misaligned so the bottom portion of the card is uncovered, and there’s some laminate hanging off the top. I trim that down and it’s whatever, but then I notice that my height is incorrect, my eye color is incorrect, and my signature at the bottom is not my signature or even my handwriting, but is just my full name with middle initial in someone else’s handwriting. I would LOVE to never have to deal with that lady again, so I’m hoping all of these issues are okay and I don’t need to call them to correct it? Curious if anyone else in MO and particularly Jackson county have similar issues, particularly with the signature. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3z8RnJw

Best way for small guy to defend himself?

Much larger guy, 6'2, 230lb is constantly challenging me (5'7, 175lb) to fights, getting up close to me and bumping into me causing me to be pushed back, trying intimidating tactics like staring me down, telling me to step outside...I have tried de-escalation but this does not work and fear I'll have to defend myself. What's the best self defense I can utilize that won't result in me getting my ass handed to me?

About to move from TX from AL. Should I renew my permit in Alabama or get it done in Texas?

I ask because it's $20/year in Alabama and $40/year in Texas. My thought process is before I move I renew my AL license for 5 years and use that until it expires. I'm not seeing a down side. The address listed on my permit is at my sister's house where I currently live. She's continuing to live there for the foreseeable future via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3mEeFlA

Any Alabama brothers here that might be able to answer a couple of questions?

Going to be traveling to Birmingham this weekend, and have my CCW from my home state which is reciprocal. I just have a couple of questions: 1. Does anyone know if The Saturn has posted no firearms signs? 2. What are the laws regarding alcohol consumption while carrying in Alabama? If I decide to have a beer while I'm there, is that a no-no? I know Georgia has laws that state that only USING the firearm is illegal while under the influence. I couldn't find anything specific for Alabama. Thanks in advance for anyone that might be able to shed some light on my ignorance. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3FFKeTM

Can your stomach accidentally push the hammer down on a 1911 in condition 1 IWB appendix carry?

Edit - question answered, thanks. As the questions states, I’m curious if this is even possible. I’ve tried to look it up, but I can’t find any answers on this specific question. I’m used to carrying one in the pipe with my G48, but I really like my 1911 and have carried it a few times in condition 1, but I’m always wondering in the back of my mind if I were to bend over and my gut pushes at all on the hammer if I’m risking shooting my self in the leg. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3JzxyjE

Advice needed!

I am hoping you guys will be able to provide me with some advice. I am a younger college student who has been carrying for about 1.5 years now. I don’t go anywhere without my gun almost ever. It has become a part of how I operate my day and it truly feels foreign when it isn’t attached to me. However, this summer I was offered an incredible internship opportunity in a field I am very passionate about. The only problem is that it is located in Chicago. Since I am not from Illinois I do not have an Illinois CCW permit. As some of you may know, Illinois does not honor most other states CCW permits, and that goes for my home state. I really don’t like the idea of living and working in Chicago while not carrying. Does anyone have any advice for me? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3mEAYaS

I finally defended myself

Im a male aged 20 and I dont like the idea when adults think it is their right to hit kids. I know I am young adult. Once when I was 19 that was a year ago lol. A random guy who was in his 30s started shoving me angrily when I visited a mall. I mistakely hit his arm bypassing him .He bullied me and had alot of strength and Ofcourse I am a teen and I was planning to workout lol. He grabbed my throught extremely hard I was alsmost choking then punched me in the face. My nose bleeded. Idk I suddenly snapped..like all the years of shit i had been through made me mad and I kneed him in the balls and when he ducked in pain I need him in the face HARD as he fell down In pain . All the people came up to me and told me I had not to hit him as he was older ....like wtf? My country has big issues and respecting someone older than you doesnt make sense if that person is a piece of shit .

Would you say that South Carolina's castle doctrine would cover bicycles under the occupied vehicle presumptions?

This seems to be the latest debate at the local gun club, several cyclists that are longtime members insist they have the absolute right to blow someone's (you know what) away and be presumed reasonable if they are being force-ably removed from their bicycles by a robber armed or unarmed. Seriously that's the exact way they put it with much more colorful language mixed in.I would say the way they made that statement, they're probably hot-heads that shouldn't be carrying firearms at all, however does the law really include bicycles under the presumptions? There seems to be a legal argument that it does fall under the law with the specific subsections linked below. It's definitely not morally right to protect mere property with deadly force, but it seems like the law may be on their side.Section 16-11-440.    (A)    A person is presumed to have a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily injury to himself or another person when using deadly force that is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily injury to another person if the person:(1)    against whom the deadly force is used is in the process of unlawfully and forcefully entering, or has unlawfully and forcibly entered a dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle, or if he removes or is attempting to remove another person against his will from the dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle; and(2)    who uses deadly force knows or has reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry or unlawful and forcible act is occurring or has occurred.(C) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in another place where he has a right to be, including, but not limited to, his place of business, has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if he reasonably believes it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily injury to himself or another person or to prevent the commission of a violent crime as defined in Section 16-1-60.Definitions:'Vehicle' means a conveyance of any kind, whether or not motorized, which is designed to transport people or propertyReference:https://ift.tt/3z2Q3YD via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3ExSoMD

How to conceal a TQ?

Hello everyone. Newbie here. Any tips, experience or advice on how to on body carry a CAT TQ? I'd like to have one on me at and one in my EDC bag. Can't figure out how to have it on me without it being noticable. Ankle carry is not the most practical for me - long legs tend to expose ankles when sitting and pockets are mostly in use. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3qqgcNj

Denied CCW? (Virginia)

Live in VA for military. Had my Jeep broken into 2 times within 3 weeks time period and had only been stationed in VA for about 2 or 3 months at the time. Really ticked me off, not because they vandalized my Jeep, but because I had a girlfriend at the time (now fiancé) and would've had no way to defend her if she had walked out there since the criminal also stole one of my 8in knives. I applied as a nonresident on 20OCT2021 per the form I turned in, and my birthday was 11OCT2000, so it was kind of a birthday present to myself. I know for a fact I'm 21, but my CCW was denied for not meeting age requirements per the Norfolk circuit Court, and lost $5 due to fees and was sent $45 back in the form of a check. Anyone know why this happened or if there's a way to proceed and dispute it without just applying again for $50 and waiting 45 days when anything can happen where I may need that permit when I don't have it? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3JhOivB

Magnetic car mount.

As the title says, I wondered if I mount my gun under my dash for quick access Is that still considered concealed? I’m licensed in my state to carry. I can’t find anything about it, only the 3 step rule pop up when I google. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3my2nLw

Best Self Defense Type

I'm looking into the different types of self defense styles/fight styles and I was wondering if you guys could help me narrow down which type I'm looking for? I want something that involves more than holds, but to be able to defend myself physically if necessary. I know that doesn't narrow things down much but I know some styles are more for defense and holding. I'm looking to be able to defend but also strike back when needed. I thought kickboxing but I also don't know much about any other styles out there. I'm a mid-20 yo woman.

I've currently got a P365XL and P320 XFull.365xl is my carry gun usually, aiwb holster with mag carrier right next to it. 320 is home defense and occasional carry with a bigger coat. Has a TLR-1 and a owb holster for it.I've considered a light and holster for 365xl, iwb holster for 320, or just upgrading one of the guns with grip, barrel, gas pedal, recoil spring, etc.So many directions to go and not sure there really is any priority. A moment to remember rule #4

Earlier today, a stray round apparently fired by an LAPD officer inside a store went through a wall and killed a teenage girl on the other side.I don't know enough about this incident to draw any conclusions about anything. But in honor of the dead girl, and as responsible gun owners, let's take this opportunity to remember the fourth rule of gun safety: Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.I'm not saying that the officer didn't do that. I'm not saying that the officer should be able to see through walls. I'm just saying that when I heard about this event I wanted to pause for a moment and say that rule out loud a couple times. And maybe you will, too. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3EsGjbt

CCW Purchase - Need Input

So I’m looking to purchase my first CCW. Was recommended to get a 9 mm and so shot a bunch of rentals. Glock 43 was nice but I also liked the S&W M&P Shield. Then continued to have more discussions with friends and family about why people carry a 380… concealment. I researched this and held a lot of pistols, examined sizes, etc. I landed on the LCP2 and LCP Max. Went to the range and tried these but the range guy also had me try the Sig P238. Whereas, I liked the LCP2 second, I was crazy accurate with the P238. Amazing in the hand. Less snappy. Slide was buttery smooth. Super thin gun. The Max offers a lot but it was much larger in the pocket due to grip thickness. I put each unloaded in my pocket to test. Further, the P238 extended mag (7 rounds) gave all three fingers a home. I was blown away. Why doesn’t everyone feel this way? In looking for a P238, I am now considering a Kimber Micro 380. The reason is both availability (P238 hard to find in black) and shear beauty of Kimber SS compared to the current Sig offering (2 versions where one is just ugly). I feel bad about buying on beauty but it’s $700 and if there is a choice with all else being equal, I want to like the look of my gun. Why not? Any opinions on this choice between these two? Something I’m missing? Looking to purchase this next two weeks. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3ppyLBV

Illinois Senate Majority Leader’s husband fires 15 shots with CCW after they’re carjacked at gunpoint. 16 hours later, US House rep is “Philly tough” after daylight armed carjacking yesterday.

Tuesday evening, at 9:45pm CT, Illinois Senate Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford and her husband dropped off her hairdresser at a Chicago suburb house. Three armed men carjacked them as the hairdresser ran inside to call 911 (but was not initially believed by the dispatcher). Per the link, police refuse to confirm her husband had a gun, just that shots were fired and they were unharmed. But another person at the house said the husband had a CCW and fired 15 shots to “distract” them and “take care of the situation” as they fled with his car. No indication any were hit.Wednesday afternoon, at 2:45pm ET in a downtown Philadelphia park, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon was carjacked at gunpoint by two men hours after another attempted carjacking, losing her personal and federal phones and ID. Police seemingly tracked those and arrested five in the car later. The mayor was “appalled” this would happen in a “place of peace” and her congressional colleague said she’ll be ok because she’s “Philly tough.”Back in 2013, Illinois was ordered by a federal appeals court to stop being the last no-issue state. Leader Lightford still voted no on the bill saying it didn’t do enough to “protect” against gun violence (too permissive), despite a supermajority overriding the governor’s veto the day of the court’s deadline to prevent the court from stepping in and potentially allowing unrestricted “carry anyplace, anywhere”. Rep. Scanlon supports “common sense gun safety” measures and organizations.Thoughts? On 1) the apparent mag dump at fleeing carjackers and 2) the back-to-back politician carjackings. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3FsBrV8

Traffic stop / cop unholstering a loaded weapon

I was watching a video on YouTube earlier today where Massad Ayoob walked through how you should address your CCW to a cop during a traffic stop. One point that he made is that if a cop asks you to hand over the gun, you should have him do it for you so that there’s no risk of someone else (like his fellow officer) thinking that you’re pulling a gun on the cop. This got me thinking about how comfortable I would feel letting a cop unholster my handgun that I carry appendix with a round chambered.I feel like with one wrong move could lead to an accidental discharge with fatal consequences. I’d feel much more comfortable unholstering it myself. How would y’all respond to being asked to hand over your gun during a traffic stop?Vid in question: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k6tANLJEmRw via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3mrwSmy
