After hearing on the news of an increase in neighborhood auto thefts I've tried researching more about the laws on the protection of personal property to find out there is no such law in this state. Is my interpretation on these laws correct? Linked articles below.

If you step outside of your dwelling and order a car thief off your property while displaying a firearm and they retreat with no shots fired wouldn't it be better not to call the police? I wouldn't think most thieves would want to implicate themselves in an attempted felony just to report you for displaying a firearm anyways.
