My local gun store has finally acquired a Hellcat to rent after weeks on backorder. This is the first time I have held and shot the gun although I have watched many videos. I have been on the fence on what I would buy: a P365 or a hellcat. I'm 6'2 and rail thin at 150-160 lbs and double stack guns simply do not conceal on me without needing to wear very baggy clothing. I'll do my best with the review but this isn't really my thing so bear with me. I also do not prefer either brand to the other, I know there is a decent amount of Springfield hate for their lobbying actions and I am going to forego agreeing or disagreeing with that and keep this review objective.I rented both a P365 and a Springfield hellcat and shot them side by side today at my local indoor gun range. I loaded them put and compared them side by side from every angle and although the hellcat seems marginally thicker, it is basically a wash. They are each basically the same dimensions. The hellcat all in all was a decent little gun. It had a really nice trigger with a clean break and audible and tactile reset. I fired mine with the 13 round extension. Compared to my 1st gen shield that i brought, even with the 13 rounder, the hellcat was still smaller. It was marginally thicker than the shield as well, but basically unnoticeable. Ergonomics were good. The grip surface was adequate, it wasn't "dynamic" as the marketing will tell you but it holds strong in the hand and did not slip or rotate when firing. I fired about 150 rounds (crazy, i know) and had 0 malfunctions. Obviously thats a drop in the bucket. A negative about the hellcat would be that the 13 round mag was loose and rattled while fully inserted. It didn't affect shooting but it is noteworthy. The sights were good. To me the U-dot is fine but it isn't mind blowing or anything.Compared to the 365, I would say I (slightly) prefer the hellcat. TO ME... the trigger was marginally better and ergos were more comfortable. The 365 did feel like the recoil was slightly softer, but with these micro 9's they're going to be pretty bad regardless. I did have on FTE with the 365 in about 80 rounds. The range clerk was surprised as they recently purchases all new guns for the range and the 365 was a recent model, so he said. I shot each pistol about the same in terms of grouping.I am pretty bad at reviews of this sort and this is the first one I have typed out so if i missed anything or you have questions I'll do my best to answer them. All in all, you won't make a bad decision buying either one. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Gb2CXl
