Ok everyone so quick background since I can’t find the news story anymore. Basically there were 2 cars that were having mild “road rage” with one another and the cars eventually ended up at a red light intersection in town. While stopped at the red light u see the man from the car in back approach the car in front and start slightly banging / tapping on the drivers window. U can see the guy has nothing in his hands and if probably 50+ years old. The driver gets out and starts to go after the guy a bit - nothing serious really (no swings, no weapons, etc.) to essentially get him away. This appears to be the end of it but then it gets stupid.Three things happen almost at once. The driver must have forgotten to put the vehicle in park however because when he starts to go after the man the vehicle starts slowly moving forward. At this point, the driver realizes this, stops worrying about the guy, and returns to his car to stop it from rolling away; he never returns to cause trouble. At the same time, the guy that came up to his window originally had retreated to his car as well. Now for some reason, the passenger now gets out of the car that was rolling away, and he goes after the guy that originally started the physical altercation originally by getting out of his car. As he approaches the guy, who is now back by his car like 30+ feet behind him, the passenger gets close enough and with one serious punch hammers the guy just standing there. He connects and the guy drops. The passenger then returns to the car and the vehicle flees the scene, with the guy who got hit laying there.Serious end points here: driver in the other car fled the scene but luckily it was all caught on security video to identify everyone and all the vehicles, driver who got hit with the punch ended up dying from the single punch, guy who threw the punch claimed he “feared for his and his families safety” and that was why he threw the punch first. The man who threw the punch has been charged with crimes that are being evaluated for more serious offense and he will probably be charged with manslaughter. It will be interesting to see if he gets and preferential treatment in Miami because he is apparently is a big time tv drama star on TV in Mexico. At any rate, nice reminder that fists are just as likely to kill as guns when used inappropriately. Also, how would you have handled this differently if you were present with a weapon? I mean yes the guy came to the window and banged on it a few times but be never tried to break it or get into the car, and when the man got out to confront him he basically retreated away? What do u do there? Then if for some reason U are the guy that were banging on the other window, once u have retreated and U see the passenger exit the car and angrily come after u do u warm him then shoot him in self defense (obviously if YOU had a CCW then you probably would NOT have approached the other mans car and banged on his window, but let’s just suppose u did for the sake of discussion). How does a CCW fit in here and what is the outcome is one was present?Just want to see how people feel on this one. If I messed up some info here it’s inadvertent. I’ll try to find the news story as well.I’m new to CCW so trying to learn from these types of scenarios from people more knowledgeable then I am.Thankssp3k0pzEdit 1 - here is a link. I don’t know how the links work here as I’ve never posted one but here it is. If it doesn’t work please let me know.road rage death via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2UsJCNu
