What is a good fighting sport to practice for self defense?

Initially wanted to post his on AskReddit but it will probably get removed. Last week I got threatened for the second time and i'm sick of feeling helpless. I don't support violence and I don't like it, but when i'm cornered I wanna be able to defend myself and others. What is a good place to start in order to feel more confident in a potential fight?

Having trouble concealing glock 43

I’m very slim built and am having trouble concealing my 43 appendix carry without the bottom of my handle showing through my clothing revealing an outline. Any tips or holsters that help a lot with concealing?EDIT: Using a tagua gunleather inside the belt soft holster. I don’t know much about or holsters in general. It was recommended to me by the dealer I bought my 43 from. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2TpDIYS

Any of you train in BJJ?

I know we have a lot of discussion on about gear (and rightfully so) but am curious to know how folks think about empty handed skills. I'm going to start training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was wondering if we have anybody on here who further up the learning curve. Any advice for a n00b? I'll also check out the subreddit on BJJ. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2CTO24t

College students, do you carry on campus?

The title is essentially my question. I go to college in a pretty rough city in Pennsylvania (it's getting better). I've had professors tell me that other professors in his department carry everyday. And I have multiple friends that carry occasionally. I'm just worried about the repercussions of getting caught. It really sucks because walking in the dark through bad areas of town without my handgun fucking sucks. Just want your thoughts or ideas. Thanks. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2RXqA0s

Tips for carrying in scrubs?

Anyone have any tips on how to carry comfortably while wearing scrubs? I work as a pharmacy technician in a retail setting and have to wear scrubs to work. While I do admit my job doesn’t necessarily approve of me carrying, the way I see it what they don’t know won’t hurt them. Opinions on best DA/SA for Concealed Carry?

What are the best da/sa guns you all have carried?Any sub $400 suggestions anyone has experience with?I’m new to carrying, and love my XDs, but I didn’t learn about da/sa guns until after I bought it. I’m thinking whenever I decide to buy a new one I may go that direction. I’ve held the XDe and really like that one, but am also very curious about compact Cz clones and commander/officer sized 1911’s (I know they’re SA only, but I’m also interested in them). via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2TpjIps

Questions about concealed carry options

I live in Connecticut and have a 10 round maximum capacity. I’m looking for a small enough pistol that I can carry it every day everywhere with me. There are so many options that I cannot figure out what would work. It should be 380 or 9mm, and safe enough to carry with 1 in the chamber. Any recommendations? via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2B8MJyw

Best way to deep conceal ?

I have a new job and there is a policy not to conceal. But it's in a very dangerous city so Id like to carry anyway. What's the best way to deep conceal a gun. I have to bend down frequently. Experience with LTC for RealID application at DMV

Went to the CA DMV today to renew my license, for RealID. But of course, I purged my backpack and car of all the "junk" this weekend, and took out my Proof of Residency document that I was supposed to bring with me. I realized it after waiting 2.5hrs in line, and didn't have a single document that would have qualified in my backpack. Ran back to the car, looked through and couldn't find ANYTHING. Shit, car registration is under my business and doesn't have my home address on it. But in the bottom of my glove compartment, I found my folded up 8.5" x 11" LTC paper permit (with my address on it) that the Orange County Sheriffs Department gives you along with your card.My number gets finally called, and the very nice employee, tells me he can't accept it. He blindly gives me back all my paperwork and IDs, and hands me the RealID requirements flyer and says to me "You need to bring back anything under #3" which is the Proof of CA Residency. I tried to tell him this paper copy of my LTC was issued by the OCSD. He wouldn't hear me. There is NO WAY I'm coming back again, so I looked at #3, and pleaded my case and pointed to the flyer that this qualifies as "A document issued by a government agency (local, state, or federal)" and that I wanted to speak to his supervisor. I told both of them to call the OC Sheriffs Department to verify that this "paper" is something they issue. They can't just deny it because they haven't seen it before. After talking to the supervisor, they ran around with my paper permit for a good 10 minutes asking a bunch of people, and doesn't look like anyone's ever seen it before. Then one of the supervisors (or employee in middle of the pit) finally approved it! Thank goodness!! LTC Paper Copy to the rescue! Thank you OCSD for handing those out!Was I carrying? Concealed is concealed, so maybe I am carrying, maybe I am not. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2HBkIVY

Transporting guns through MD

Proud Virginian wanting to go to the range with a few friends from maryland. Due to the logistics, it was decided that we are going to a range in maryland. I would rather get some trigger time with my two pistols, and not pay out the a$$ to rent/buy range ammo.I plan on driving straight to the range and straight back, guns cased and unloaded in the trunk. I read through handgunlaw.us but I am still really worried about doing everything legally. Does anyone have experience doing this in MD? via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2S90GGD

Any experts on German knife laws? Question regarding flippers.

Hi, so I have a flipper knife that I want to make compliant with the German knife carrying laws, which state that a knife cannot be BOTH one-hand opener AND locking. Since my flipper locks, it has to be made to not be able to open with one hand. If I can add some kind of blocker to the blade that has to be held open with one hand while you open the knife with the other hand, that would be compliant, right? My current thinking is to take a kind of U ring and attach it to the bottom of the knife to block the blade, and using some kind of spring mechanism to keep it in place, so you have to hold it open before flipping the knife open or closed.Any help or advice would be appreciated! via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2HC0KKD

Tips for carrying G43/Vedder Light Tuck with tucked in shirt without bulging?

I’m looking for any tips to help with carrying in uniform. For work I wear a cotton polo tucked into work jeans. I carry a Glock 43 in a Vedder Light Tuck, which has done alright. I’m slender, about 5’8”/145 lbs, so I feel when I carry like usual (4:30 position) it bulges out and prints. (I know printing isn’t illegal in my state but it’s more so unprofessional) I’ve tried appendix only to find more discomfort and the same problem. Anyone have tips to help with this? Saturday Night, Packed Bus, Disturbed and Violent Passenger

Here's the situation that prompted me to get a license to carry:My wife and I are on seated about halfway back on a regional bus that is so packed it is standing room only all the way to the front. I'm at the window and she's on the aisle. As soon as the bus leaves the station, a mentally disturbed man starts pushing his way to the front of the bus and makes a scene. He starts shouting, banging on the overhead luggage carriers, and making verbal threats such as "this is why 9/11 happened." He also loudly suggests that he has a bomb in his backpack, which he left at the back of the bus (mentally I guess that is not a credible threat, given his presentation). I switch places with my wife so I'm on the aisle now. Unfortunately we're about 10 minutes away from the next stop and on the express lanes on the interstate so there is nowhere for the bus driver to stop. I do notice the bus driver is on the radio, presumably calling for police assistance at the next stop. After five more tense minutes or so, there is a scuffle and from what I was able to discern, the man threw some punches and was ultimately restrained by a couple of passengers until we arrived at the stop. (Hooray for them!)He disembarked and about 90 seconds passed until the police showed up and arrested him.So even if I had been armed, several more things would have had to happen before drawing was a consideration. First, he would have had to been armed with some kind of deadly weapon and using it against people. Next, there would have had to be nobody in the aisle between him and me, and nobody running away from him towards me. Third, of course, that there would have had to be a clear shot and nobody behind him (only the driver who was seated down and to the left). All of this was running through my head at the time.Still, this was uncomfortably close to being a lethal encounter. Stuck in a crowded, enclosed space with very little cover and no means of escape was a pretty crappy situation. In that hypothetical situation (of him being armed), what would you do? via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2Gb0Q9J

IWB options for incoming P320RX Compact?

Hey folks,I've been carrying a VP9 OWB for the last couple years and doing a pretty decent job of concealing it. Carrying in Arizona

Hi,My wife is leaving and going to school in Arizona for year. I was planning on giving her my 9mm shield to have in her apartment and possibly carry around in a purse while she is in a new area. So I've got great IWB holsters that work for me, but I'm curious if there's any good OWB holders for a Glock 43 that conceal well. I have a felon stalking me in NYS. Weapon options??

These past few days have been incredibly frustrating. I’ve been getting stalked at my workplace by a woman. This woman’s husband (also a violent felon) has called my workplace “looking” for her. They have some twisted jealousy driven relationship and she’s been telling her husband that she has something “going on” with me. This is not the case and never was. She’s made advances towards me, somehow got my phone number and texted me repeatedly until I blocked her. I told her repeatedly that I wasn’t interested and she will not stop. She comes into my workplace everyday and harasses me. I told my two bosses and they are not taking it seriously and one of them even thought it was funny.

Being that they’re not going to protect me, I have to protect myself. I have a CCW in another state, which of course does me zero good here in NY. I just looked up getting a taser and what do ya’ know, illegal here in NY as well. This is so frustrating. Here are two felons, who clearly don’t care about the law and will carry whatever weapons they want and I can’t even have a taser to protect myself. NY is so backwards.

What other weapon options do I have? What’s better, pepper spray or a knife?

I need some help deciding on my carry gun!

So my 21 birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and I live in the great lone star state. I've looked at the: CZ-P07, Steyr M9, IWI Jericho(steel) 9mm, and the Arex rex zero 1. As of now I've been wanting the Arex due to the manual safety because I like the idea of "cocked and locked." I like guns with a safety I'll be honest and I'm looking for others opinions on these firearms. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2CRt8mF

For those that don't get to carry frequently...

How do you deal with going from not carrying for most of your day or even week, to then carrying a firearm for just a brief moment, and then back again? Are you not constantly thinking about the added weight to your body? Or how different it feels? Do you often question why you even have a license if you never are able to carry?I can't carry at work or my gym (military base), let alone have the firearm in my truck while traveling to/from these places. So the only time I get to carry is on Sundays for ~1 hour at the grocery store. It just feels weird to finally be able to conceal, yet never really get to. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2B8Jw1T
