LLOD vs Tier 1

Hey guys, I've been hesitant to ask opinions on this because I'm sure it will end up 50/50 and I recognize everyone's body is shaped different. Has anyone had experience with these two holsters, ideally on a compact (G19 as a primary example)? I've narrowed down my choice to these two (LLOD Associate v2 and Tier 1 Axis Slim), but would love some input, especially from anyone who has had both. I'm mostly concerned with printing on a gun of that size. I'm 6'2" 175lb and body fat of probably around 12%, so not much fat to get in the way up front but I also tend to wear pretty fitted clothing. Thanks for any input! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/30gK7M8

Defence against women...

How would one defend himself against a violent woman? A couple of months ago my sister slapped me on my back and I smacked her in reflex and she started crying. I got called out because of that. That was nothing, though. But I started to wonder what should I do if a real psycho woman tries to attack me. Please don't answer with defend like you defend against a man. We all know that won't work. Please help.

Recently aquired my CCW and had a question in regards to purchasing my first conceal

Hey everybody! Glad to have finally gotten my CCW. Living in Baltimore, I honestly should of gotten around to getting it sooner but better late than never. I did have a question about anyone with a Canik or is familiar with concealing one. I'm a bigger guy, im at 6'1 and arund 260 pounds. When people guess my weight they're usually thinking around 230/240 since my shoulders carry me well and I'm more of a gym goer. I was wondering what you guys would recommend me purchasing, with a holster and what not. I'm really leaning towards a Canik, I've always shot them at a range, and felt super comfortable during my CCW shooting time. So if you guys have any recommendations I'd love to hear them! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3hWpFWy

hello, I was thinking about a technique and I would like to know the opinion of you and the veterans in self defense, a blow with the palm of the hand on the nose or chin is efficient and what are the effects, have you used this blow?

Best additional equipment for MP Shield 2.0?

Ammo, ammo box, gun case, holster, cleaning kit. Bag for range? Am I missing anything else? Just got my hands on MP Shield 2.0.Recommended ammo brands, ammo box, cleaning kits, gun case? Also, should I leave my gun unloaded? I keep seeing people recommend it, but isn't that counterproductive in a self-defense scenario at home? Wouldn't I need quick access and be ready to shoot? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3hKUygO

Does anyone invest in things like Carry Guard or USCCA?

Been kicking the idea around and have looked at a few options, this being one of them or NRA’s Carry Guard. Maybe I should ask, what do all of you do to legally prepare for such a time when you might have to use your weapon?USCCA via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3hWmsXl

Small guns that have the shooting feel of big guns?

My GF is expressing interest in carrying, and I'm trying to think of guns she might like. She shoots best at the range with big, heavy guns; she likes my Model 10 and says her 2 favorite guns she ever shot were .45s (HK and 1911). A lighter gun would be easier for her (her hands and wrists aren't the strongest), but she hates my 442 because it's a punchy little bastard. What would be good potential options for "small, easy, but not snappy"? I've been eying a Bersa .380 for myself for a while, and it seems .32ACP has a cult following for its ease of use but has limited modern options. Ideally want to keep the gun under $500. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3jSoTvT

I just had a very uncomfortable experience. There is no doubt in my mind that this was a divine sign that my recent interest in carrying/gun ownership is not only justified, but truly genuine and, dare I say, vital.

BackgroundI'm 24. I've been shooting guns in various environments (skeet, hunting, fun at the farm) for at least 10 years. I've always wanted to own my own guns, get my CCW and be a carrier just like my father and his father before him. I've never prioritized it because.. well, life got in the way. That is, until my little brother (22 y/o) showed me his new pistol for carrying. I was enraged... "no way you got a gun before me you little bastard!"Needless to say, he lit a fire in me. This happened three days ago on Monday.I spent the past 60+ hours completely immersed in guns. Seriously, I have hardly slept. It's so much fun.Last night, I bought my first gun online, the CZ P-01 Omega. Shipped out today and can't be more excited. Here's where the story begins.StoryI have two dogs (Lucy and Cup) and decided to take them for a walk today. Before leaving the house, I distinctly remember thinking to myself:"Gee, what happened if I got randomly mugged today? That would suck. I'd probably have to take the beating, and if lucky, I could walk to the station and explain what happened. I would hope I would remember details. Ugh, that would really blow. I mean, I could even get killed.. it's unlikely, but it could happen right? Hell, I'll bring my knuck on this walk."Mind you... this little scenario randomly popped into my head.Of course, I forgot to go upstairs and actually grab the single-hole knuck."Meh, whatever."Totally forgot about it and went on my way.A few minutes into the walk, I passed a neighbor that was outside her house."Is that a puppy?!?! Aww!""BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK yes he's very yappy BARK BARK BARK BARK"She yelled "Well maybe he'll be friends with our dog one day!" as I walked past.It was at this moment that in my peripheral vision, I saw someone in a car that was driving slowly, right next to me. I looked over and saw a single person in a car staring right at me.At first, I thought it was my next-door neighbor being funny."Hey what's up man?"No response. I looked at the person as he continued driving slowly right next to me, staring directly at me and never breaking eye contact.I keep eye contact for maybe 5 seconds."...what's up dude?"No response. Still staring directly at me.In my mind: "Hmm... I don't think this is someone I know."I turned my head forward and kept walking. In my peripheral vision, I can tell that he's still there, driving eerily slowly, staring directly at me.This time, I can't remember what I said exactly, but I think I turned to him and said "What's up man?" a third time.I maintain my eye contact with him for another 5 seconds or so.Nothing. The guy is locked on me, staring right back. It felt menacing.what the fuckThis was the point that I realized this person was deciding whether or not he wanted to mug me.To be honest, it seemed like he was really high. It's possible that he was interested in my dogs...But somehow I doubt that. While slowly following me and staring directly at me, I stopped and turned the other direction. He sped off, turned, and got lost.I kept on walking and called my little brother immediately."Dude, you'll never guess what the fuck just happened."And so the story goes.MoralIf you got this far, you already know what the moral of the story is.The point is that anything can happen at any time to anyone, anywhere. And it feels awful to be helpless. Stranded. Defenseless. It's simply not fair.I'm not a superstitious guy (maybe a little stitious). Honestly, I don't believe in this stuff. But there is not a single doubt in my mind that this experience meant something. The genuine, deep fear that I felt was real. Would I still feel it while armed? Duh! But the POINT is that I have the right to defend myself in that scenario should it escalate in an extremely undesirable way.The point is that I can defend myself, so I will. It's a tough choice. To arm oneself and accept that fact that if circumstances unfolded in the worst possible way, you could end up killing someone. You could end up hurt as well. You could also end up dead. The point is that we have the right to try everything in our power to prevent that from happening. Thanks for reading! I'm joining the CCW crew ever so shortly! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3fgEkKu

How does this sub feel about Kahr pistols?

I have an opportunity to get a new, in box Kahr P9 for under $400. The gun fits my hand perfectly and I like how light and thin it is.I know they don't get the press that the bigger brands like Glock, Sig, Springfield, S&W, etc. get, but does anyone here have a Kahr as their ccw? What are your thoughts?Edit to add: the biggest drawback I see is mag capacity compare to its contemporaries. The wife and I had a little debate.

If your teenage son is in school and a female classmate begins to bully and slap him around, does he:

A. Just take it because he believes it would be frowned upon for him to hit a girl

B. Defend himself until she stops hitting him

C. Run and tell the principal

D. Other(Explain)

Holster selection is important

If you have been CCW'ing for a while, chances are you have multiple holsters and have reasons for buying each one.I have been a fan of an easy on, easy off minimalist style holster for years given that I have to doff before going into work. Sometimes I AIWB, sometimes I 4'oclock. Until yesterday I had been using a Raven Vanguard2 daily. Yesterday while walking the dog, the VG2 slid a bit farther back than I liked. Having had this happen often before, I reached back and slid it forward to about 4. at that point, I realized I had basically drawn inside my shorts. With a look of terror as I walked on the sidewalk in front of a number of occupied businesses and patios, I held it with my hand flat and rounded the corner about 20ft away, knelt down like i was tying my shoe, pulled it from my shorts, cleared it, and dropped it in my pocket for the rest of the walk.It was my first real "oh shit" moment, and the first time it has ever come out of the trigger guard without a proper upward draw.VG2. Never again. I'll go back to my bulky pink AIWB sidecar type until I find a suitable AIWB/3 o'clock hybrid with a claw. This is 100% operator error, but since I can't trust myself not to move it, I will be getting rid of the VG2. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2ED0aLX

Utah Permit and Plea in Abeyance

Hi guys, back in 2017 I got an underage drinking ticket. (forest ranger caught me drinking a beer while camping with some friends and gave me a ticket, long story)My grandfather recently gave me a snub nose revolver, under the condition that I get my Concealed Carry permit first.Under Utah law, it says that any person convicted of any offense involving alcohol cannot receive a cc permit. For my charge, I completed a Plea in Abeyance in October 2018.From my understanding, a Plea in Abeyance is not a conviction, and it should be dismissed from my record at this point. Can anyone weigh in on this and educate me further on the subject? And is there any way I can determine my eligibility before I go through the process? Thanks! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3fbjBaX

Home protection adrenaline rush then laughter

Quick background: My wife and I live in Northern Michigan waaay out in the woods in a fishing lodge on a beautiful trout stream. We are very isolated and it's a 15 mile drive to the nearest store/town. Our dirt two track driveway is 1/4 mile long from the main road and there is a gate. If you're coming down my driveway I'm going to know it. We've always known that if there were an intruder emergency we would be on our own as law enforcement would take 20-30 minutes to arrive and we've prepared as such. Most of our firearms are stored in a safe in my reloading room but we keep one apiece in the bedroom. Last night we were in bed reading books and we heard a large "boom." Our dogs jumped up and went nuts. We are used to limbs falling on the roof or critters making noise but this was nothing like that. It sounded like a mortar leaving the tube. I told my wife to "follow the plan." She armed herself and took cover with the phone ready to call 911. The dogs and I went room to room clearing the house and found nothing. We were in the garage when we all heard the same sound although not as loud but it was coming from inside the house! The dogs and I re-entered the house from the garage and worked our way to the kitchen. In the kitchen sink I found multiple expired biscuit tubes my wife was throwing away. Two of them had exploded. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2P8FEVl

About to get my ccw, need tips on gear

Hey everyone, I'm getting my CCW in the coming weeks. I've already done the classes, took extra handgun classes, and have been shooting regularly since I was 16. So I'm not new to firearms in anyway, but I'm not very knowledgeable on the gear used to concealed carry.I tried different ccw guns pretty extensively and landed on the p365 as the one I feel most comfortable with. In the summer I wear gym shorts 90+% of the time and in the winter it's a pretty even mix between sweatpants and jeans (I might lean towards jeans even more if ill be carrying).I've settled on carrying IWB with a nylon belt underneath my gym shorts/sweatpants and carrying IWB while wearing jeans. My question: Whats the best nylon belt and holster for this purpose? Ruger LCP 2 rust

Hi everyone, Just received my ruger lcp 2 and put 100 rounds through it. I never thought pocket carrying a firearm would be something for me but I’m so excited now that I took the plunge. It conceals so well in my pocket that I don’t have a single excuse to not carry it everywhere I go. That being said, I’ve been carrying it in the pocket holster it came with for a few days now and started to notice some surface rust forming in the rear serrations. I’m sure this is from making contact with my leg in the Florida humidity and heat. Does anyone else have rust issues with their lcp? I love the gun so much that I’m disappointed to see rust forming so early. I’ve wiped it down with oil a few times since I started carrying it. Is this just part of the game? Should I live with it and just buy a new one once it gets too bad? Just looking for some input from fellow LCP owners. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2BIdTjn

Holster options for P320 RXP

Long walks post injuries- can CCW offset hips? Options?

I broke my back and several other bones in a motorcycle accident a while back and was in a wheelchair for a while. I’ve been taking long walks everyday (AZ desert, middle of nowhere) and carry concealed Glock 19 IWB alien gear right hip 4:30 position. I’ve noticed a slight change in my gate with my left side somewhat compensating for the slight weight difference.. although this may be slightly exaggerated/imagined as I feel hyper focused on what my body is doing after the injuries.I’m wondering if there are any solutions to carry somewhere else and displace the weight more evenly? Is this an issue others face or is the weight difference negligible? I’m thinking maybe even a chest rig (although I’m somewhat new, and that might be a dumb thought). via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3jScOqn

G19 in CZ P 10 C Holster? (Light Compatible)

Why are gun accessories/sights so expensive?

I have a decent collection of "cheap" guns, and I've looked into maybe changing a sight or adding a laser but the damn accessories cost damn near the price of a gun.Example,I was looking for some better sights for my tx22, but I saw them going for $60-80 bucks. I paid $215 out the door for the gun at that point I'll just buy another gun; ie hi point, 10-22, taurus etc..Is it simply because it's a niche market with a lack of competition, or is the gun market historically one that likes to overcharge? I understand R&D, but most lasers are nothing but plastic, a watch battery, and a red/green Chinese laser. Gun sights are literally cheap ass plastic, or Chinese carbon steel. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3gdIkNc

Self defense against a dog.

I have a question that’s sad to ask and I wish I didn’t need to.

There’s a dog in my neighborhood that an elderly couple purchased as a “service dog” from an woman that has a long history of animal abuse. The dog has been a constant issue with getting loose and causing issues.

It’s a German Sheppard mix and he constantly gets out. I helped by offering a 50 foot leash to use as a back-up for him getting loose, but they didn’t use it, and my dog was attacked. I reported it, and things seemed to be better.

Yesterday, the German Sheppard attacked my dog again. Last week, he chased after a little girl that barely escaped harms way. I hate to ask this...

What is the best defense against a dog attack? I don’t won’t to hurt the dog, but I can’t stand by and watch him hurt mine. I also don’t know how the dog will react if I attack it to protect my dog.

This situation is horrible. I just don’t know what to do. Carry an extra rope? Pepper spray? A knife? The police are investigating now because the number of incidents have increased, but in the interim, I’m just trying to keep myself, my dog, and this dog Ben, safe.

Suggestions are welcome. The owners have had more than a year to rectify the issue. They’ll lie and say it didn’t happen unless there was a witness. It’s impossible to talk to them into a solution that works. I’m hoping the police take care of it, but again, until then, what would you do to protect your fur babies?

Tier 1 Axis Elite G19 X300u work with p80 pf940c X300u?

Is anyone running a pf940c with x300u in an axis elite and it's working properly? I ask because the place where the x300u mounts on the pf940c is likely slightly different than where it mounts on the g19 and this could throw off the fit inside the holster. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2X4LR96

Holster for FN-509 midsize w/ TLR-7A?

Picked up an FN-509 midsize MRD (just waiting on my RMR to arrive this weekend and the chance to put enough rounds through it to be confident it's ready to carry). I really want to mount a TLR-7A I received as an anniversary present from my wife, but I'm not seeing a lot of holster options for that combination. I'll be carrying IWB 95% of the time at 7:30 or so.Anyone else carry this pistol with a light? What holster do you use?
