AIWB Holster Frustrations

So, after doing plenty of research and weighing the pros and cons, I'm very much looking to switch over to AIWB. My problem is that I can't for the life of me get rid of severe imprinting coming from the grip. I'm a pretty small guy - 5'8", 135lbs. I thought this was going to help with concealment, but instead it seems as if I'm imprinting more than guys twice my size. My EDC is a Shield 2.0 9mm, so it's far from a large gun. I even dropped the extended mag in favor of the standard just to try and shave off any grip length I could. I don't wear excessively tight clothing by any means. I live in an area that allows me to wear shorts and a t-shirt 9 months out of the year, and shorts with a hoodie the other 3 months. Of course concealing with a jacket is easy, but the shorts and t-shirt is my issue. As of now, I've really only tried one holster - the Aliengear Shapeshift 4.0. It's incredibly comfortable, but even with all the possible combinations of ride height and cant, nothing even comes close to being acceptable. That being said, I'll be returning this beast. I'm looking at the Dara AIWB holster to replace it, as it seems to have a great following. All in all, any tips the community could offer? A different holster perhaps? Tricks that I'm just missing? via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2J7HIen

Vedder light tuck vs Dara IWB for a light bearing 43x

I need a new holster and have decided between these two. I have heard some complaints about Vedders light bearing lighttuck not having good retention, can anyone confirm or deny?I like the adjustability of the Vedder much more but if the Dara will be a better holster I don't mind having a non-adjustable one. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2IQXWct

Legal queastions about an employer

I live in Kansas, and I had an employer go through my bag, and found my pistol.I never told anyone about it, there's no "NO GUNS" sign on the building, and in the employee handbook, nothing is said about the carry od weapons on the property. And, up until recently, I wad told it was okay to be armed. Now, I got my ass chewed by my managers (one of whom carrys) for having it.I got asked to not have it on me while working. Fine. But going through my bag? What's the legality of thiEDIT: /thread, I talked it ovetrr with my boss. I'm in the clear, and also I don't have a leg to stand on anyway due to the employee handbook regarding searches. Thanks for the help everybody. Cheers. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2vwpHhX

Sitting down while pocket carrying

I recently bought a ruger lcp 2 for summer pocket carry. One of the things I immediately noticed is when sat down for the first time in my car is when the barrel is pointing. This is obviously not an issue in my car as I am not facing anyone, but at a picnic table or on a couch it becomes concerning. Everyone I have talked to in person has told me as long as the gun is holstered and you don’t pull the trigger it will not go off. It still just feels like going against better judgement. I was wondering if anyone else has given this any thought? via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2Lo2Gbw

My Glock may have very well saved my life yesterday.

So for context, me and a friend of mine had just finished graduating from the fire accademy and were on our way back to the house to put our gear back up. We were beat from the live burn and thought the exciting part of the day was done with. As we hit the on ramp my friend went to merge over, but unfortunatley didn't see a motorist traveling in the same lane, forcing him to break so we didn't hit him. He layed on his horn for a good minute and came flying up next to us. He rolled down his window and began shoutting into mine, all while going about 65mph. This guy is clearly out of his mind, telling us he was going to hit us, then swearving into us and forcing us over to the shoulder. At this point the adrenaline starts pumping and I'm thinking to myself "holy shit this guy is going to run us off the road". We speed up trying to get away and hes following us the whole way, alternating from behind us to infront of us, swearving into us and break checking us. My friends phone had fallen on to the floor and mine was in the back seat in my jacket, so we couldn't exactly call 911. This guy went flying in between cars, through a construction site, and at one point even opened his door for whatever reason while barreling down the highway, every time he got close to us he was yelling things like "I'm going to shoot you!" and "I'm going to kill you!" So we see our off ramp and try getting over without him knowing, but he cuts off a few other motorists and comes flying around us, boxing the car in, leaving us unable to move the vehicle. He jumps out, about 6'2, 250 pounds, and he's going nuts. My friend also carries and after locking the doors and rolling the windows up draws his firearm, while the guy is pulling at his handle screaming at the top of his lungs. I stepped out, using my door as a barrier between this guy and myself. He is now screaming at my friend telling him to shoot him, and all about his 4 kids. My friend did not aim his weapon, he only presented it. He then decides he wasn't getting anywhere with him so he moves around the car and comes my way, at this point my weapon is drawn and at my side, I'm yelling to the guy saying it was an accident and that we didn't want to shoot him, we just wanted him to go away. He then goes into his vehicle and reaches for something, this had me especially scared because of his threats to shoot and kill us, so I brought my gun to a low ready, and my friend did the same. He pulls a phone out, which was a relief, the last thing I wanted to do was get into a shootout on an open and busy highway. He starts recording telling us to "say hi to youtube!" and going on about how we're "pussies" because we wouldn't fight him. I'm not sure what he even wanted to do that for, me and my friend aren't small people, like I said, he was just off of his rocker. I turned back and seen a motorist who was in her vehicle about 50 feet back and screamed for her to call 911. I guess he decided that was the end of his fun so he gets back in his vehicle and speeds off, only to hit a stop light at the end of the ramp. We get back in and decide to drive directly to the police station, we were so amped up we had completley forgotten about calling 911, or at least finding out phones. We ended up at the same light in a different lane, and this guy decides to step out one more time. This time hes doing some stupid dance throwing up finger guns like you'd see a little kid playing cowboy do, then starts pointing at his arms and mocking us in the most childish way possible. After we were free of the light we realized we had no idea where the PD was in relation to us so we pulled into a McDonalds parking lot to try and find our phones. Luckily, the motorist I asked to call 911 had done exactly that, and followed us to McDonalds, and handed her phone to us. I was so full of this adrenaline dump that I was shaking too much to stand in one spot, so I leaned up against the car and just stood there shaking. When the police responded, they took our information and didn't give us any hastle about our guns, the lead officer actually told us we "have a right to defend ourselves" and that we did good, we gave them a plate number, and they found him in their system for a few traffic violations and one case of assault, but I was told they basically weren't going to do anything about it. Either way, yesterday was the craziest day of my life, and Ihave a whole new respect for police officers in terms of having to make a judgment call, when that guy reached into his vehicle, I was almost certain he was going for a gun.I'm just incredibly greatful it didn't end that way, I don't know where my mind would be if I was forced to shoot him. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2J3IGbA

CCW application

Hi all,I am new to the USA. I moved here (Oakland county Michigan) on October 20th 2018 to marry my now wife who is a US citizen. (Legally on a k1 visa)Due to some pretty messed up rules involving immigrants in the US; I cannot apply for a driver's license/state ID or SSN until I receive my work permit or green card (whatever arrives first). When I get my driver's license/state ID and can apply for a CPL is that when my 6 months residency in Michigan starts towards the application or is it October 20th when I physically moved here? Many thanks for the help. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2GMSMdY

Axis slim question...

I've noticed that there are a LOT of axis users in this sub. I've been eyeing it up for some time but have had my reservations. My biggest hang up is "what if I want to add a weapon light or an optic"?So here is my question... What are the disadvantages, if any, of ordering an axis with a optic cut/weapon light even if I do not have either of those current on my carry handgun? PSA: Don't let your license expire!

Wasn't paying attention - I knew my CCW license renewed sometime this year but didn't know when. Went to purchase a new gun over the weekend and realized it had recently expired. No worries, I'll just go renew it Monday, I thought.Well, instead of paying $30 for just a renewal, I had to pay $80 and do the full background check and fingerprints all over again. And have to wait 2-3 weeks for my new license to arrive before I'm legal to carry again. When my new license is issued, I'm going to put a calendar event in my Google Calendar for 90 days prior to it's expiration, so I don't forget again! via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2PAAFw4

Hanks vs old leather belt

So I got A Hank's Extreme belt last week and having been wearing it daily. I must say that I get what everyone is talking about when it comes to a dedicated gun belt. This hank's belt is at least twice as thick as my old leather belt that I've had for years. The first thing I noticed when I put on the Hank's was the comfort. Even without my gun attached, it felt good around my waist. With the gun attached, I barely felt the weight and the gun doesn't move unless I make it move. I wore my gun for five hours and had little to no discomfort. My old belt makes my gun feel like an anchor on my hip. The craftsmanship to good as well.Since this was my first dedicated gun belt, I'm now a firm believer in having one. I'll get another soon. May or may not be Hank's. I'll probably see what Beltman is about next. But no matter what brand, if you're thinking about getting a gun belt, stop thinking and do it. It makes a world of difference. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2XW5aiZ

(Discussion) Rule of thumb says smaller guns are snappier and may preclude you from practicing. But if you can’t afford to shoot much anyways, wouldn’t having a better grip outweigh the recoil pain?

this stems from my small hands post but i thought maybe this topic could use a separate thread?ok so smaller guns are easier to hold for small hand ppl. but the recoil goes way up and the pain will make it harder to motivate yourself to visit the range to trainbut! if you’re broke as a joke and can’t visit the range much anyhow (and when you do you can’t buy many rounds), wouldn’t having a safer grip outweigh the pain discourager factor? via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2V1qcQm

Mounted lights on your EDC

What are your thoughts on carrying with a mounted light? I've been looking into it recently and am still undecided on whether or not it's viable to get a holster and a mounted light vs just carrying around a flash light. Also, would it be better to have a light + night sights or would having a light suffice?Any feedback would be helpful, thanks. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2DDQBbZ

Carrying AIWB Observations

So I’ve been trying out carrying AIWB and I’ve noticed something. My gun doesn’t print cuz I have a holster with a claw butt...1- my belt buckle prints (does this with multiple belts), have to move it off to side to get it not to print2- depending on how I carry by spare mags (usually 9 o’clock IWB, someone OWB depending on gun) or the belt I use, my back hurts to the point I have to take off or move gun.My EDC belt is a cobra buckle belt from blue alpha. I just have plain leather ones when I don’t feel like using the cobra.Any suggestions on how to fix this or similar observations. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2vothKV

Non AIWB holster for Glock 43/43x

Hello all,I'm looking for an IWB holster for my 43x. I mostly carry at about 3:30 or 4:30 but would like to try some AIWB carry in the future. What holster would you recommend? So far I've looked at Dara and gcode because they are both on sale and both located in my state (NC). The Dara was about $70 shipped and the single clip G-code was about $84 shipped, although I could drive and pick up the Dara if I wanted to.Any other recommendations? Carry without safety

So I'm a pretty new carrier (roughly 1 month), and I'm comfortable carrying with one in the chamber but not safety off yet, BUT, I want to be. For reference, I carry an M&P shield 9mm in a full kydex Concealment Express holster at 4 o'clock. I guess I need experience and peace of mind. When its in the holster, can any pressure/weight possibly engage the trigger? (Im only 123 pounds, small frame). Can a kydex holster retention be "too" loose that it can increase possibility of negligent discharge? (I keep my holster just loose enough that if I shake it upside down hard it can fall out. This is so when I draw it doesnt pull my pants up too much). Are there any specific movements or other such things I should know or worry about while carrying 4 o'clock?Thank you for tips or constructive criticism on my journey of concealed carry. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2GQhbRh

Help deciding on my first carry gun, but had a discouraging experience at gun store today

Hello,Long time lurker, first-time poster. I am in the market for my first CCW gun, I just got my Ohio CCW last week, and I had a fairly discouraging experience today across multiple stores. I stopped by my local Cabellas, I was actually in there for another reason, but I figure I'd stop by their gun counter to look and I couldn't even get a clerk to talk to.I drove down the street to one of the local gun shops in my area, and one of the clerks pulled me aside and asked me why I was there and I explained to him that I was in the market for my first CCW gun, but at the moment I wanted to restrict myself to vehicle carry because I'm working on my masters degree and that I have to drive through a really bad area to get to my university and I don't feel safe, and I wanted to wait until I got more comfortable with carrying everywhere. So to start out I'd be carrying in my vehicle and the gun would be going in a lockbox in my locked vehicle upon reaching the campus. And that is when the guy really started to discourage me,He started off by trying to sell me a full size because I said vehicle carry, I eventually want to feel comfortable enough to carry everywhere, but I don't have the money since I'm paying for school to buy a gun whenever I want to. I had been looking at the S&W M&P Compact 9mm, and he was trying to upsell me the full size. Then I asked about a Walther PPS M2 and said he didn't have any in stock and took me over to the Glocks and was trying to sell me on them, and then proceeded to make a quip about if I'm only going to carry in my vehicle to start I should just get a can of mace if I'm not going to carry everywhere. So I just said thanks but no thanks and walked out.I've been doing a lot of research over the last few weeks and I've narrowed down my list toS&W M&P Compact 9mmWalther PPS M2 9mmWould either of those guns be a good and reliable first purchase? I'm not opposed to other brands, but I've been consistently pointed in the direction of those two. I have reasonable firearm experience, but I've never owned and just went with friends, and I'm trying to put a good amount of thought into this. Thanks! via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2ZCvDDL
