How does case law read in Vermont as it relates to defending one’s self from an intruder?

Vermont is the only state that technically has a “duty to retreat” requirement when an intruder breaks into your home. It’s very nuanced, though.

“Vermont jury instructions have stated that if there was a reasonable belief that deadly force was necessary to protect from an imminent threat of death or bodily injury, there is no duty to retreat.”

Just wondering... under case law, what would the do-not-cross line be for using deadly force against an intruder in Vermont? Can anyone provide me specific cases as well?
