I’m in the market for a few non-lethal self defense options to arm myself with. I am NOT getting a gun, but am considering a weapon of some sort and/or a class to learn how to fight someone off. I’m 5’2, 119 lbs but reasonably fit; I lift, run and box on a regular basis.
I’d like to have two options to keep on my person, but there are SO many different options out there, I’m having trouble sifting thru everything to find the truly good, reliable ones.
For example, I’ve been looking into Brazilian jiu-jitsu but is that really going to help me or am I just going to get myself beaten up for nothing? Is there another type of class I should consider? I’ve heard the general “self-defense classes for women” are bullshit.
I’m also considering a stun gun or pepper spray, but don’t want to end up with something that’s actually a piece of junk and I end up hurting myself or someone else unintentionally.
Does anyone have suggestions as to what I should seriously consider vs give up on, or a site that has trustworthy, non-biased reviews of products? Also, I live in Ohio so not sure if there are laws I’ll need to factor in to this decision.
