Just adopted and looking for options.

We just adopted two kids out of foster care. Their birth mother is a meth head. Meth heads tend to hang out together and make bad decisions. She never has been an issue before but my protective nature is coming out. I've had and been around guns most of my life. Mostly long guns. I have had a Glock 19 for several years. I have never had much of a desire to CCW until recently. I think it's probably not needed in this case but I would rather have it and not need it than to not have it and her do something stupid. I'm looking for suggestions on placements and good gear. I won't be carrying to work.
