tldr; while delivering a package in a violent part of the city, a man drove into the front yard I was in and struck me with his pickup truck and proceeded to threaten me and the homeowner with an alleged CCW. Police showed up and didn't arrest him.Recently while I was delivering a package, an angry motorist attempted to run me over in the front yard of the house I was delivering to. I parked my truck in front of a house on a one way street which would have only taken 30 seconds at most and there was a man in a pickup truck that couldn't go around me. As I'm carrying a rather large package to the front door, the man is blaring his horn and I look back and see him suddenly drive over the curb and enter the front yard. He drives directly at me at roughly 10-15mph and I realized that he was not going to stop and that he was about to hit me. Thinking quickly, I faced his truck and used the large package as an impact shield and sort of hopped up so I would hit the upper part of his hood rather than potentially be knocked down and be run over. He hits me and it blows me backwards and the package goes flying, I go flying. He jumps out of his truck and starts yelling at me remarks about how he's tired of "this sh*t" in his neighborhood and then says something about he has a CCW and essentially threatens to use it on me. His hands proceeded to go into his coat pockets, assuming that he was now holding a pistol in one of his coat pockets. At this point I tell him I'm calling the police. The homeowner, a mid 30's woman, exits her house on to her porch screaming about how she saw the whole thing and is yelling at the man for hitting me in her front yard. While on the phone with 911, the man and the homeowner are still jawing back and forth and he must have threatened his firearm on her as well. The homeowner says that she has one too and enters her house only to return with a smaller 9mm and proceeds to rack the slide on the porch yelling "what's up now mf'er you're on my property." Three police cars arrive and casually approach the scene and end up just taking statements from all three people. For some reason the man who hit me stayed the entire time as if he was waiting for someone to begin fighting him physically or with a gun. They come back to me and tell me that they were going to write an assault report and if I wanted to press charges on the man then I could go down and get the report and talk to a prosecutor. This entire situation I did have my g43x. After being hit in the front yard I realized that I was somehow okay and the man didn't have any weapons drawn so I didn't feel the need to draw my firearm in that moment. Since I had to retrieve my phone from the truck, I was able to distance myself from the man rather quickly and process what had just happened. In those moments was when I had decided if the man pulled out a firearm and began approaching me or pointed something at me would be when I would be forced to draw on him and do what I had to.I'm curious as to how people in this sub would have reacted or what I could or couldn't have done different. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/HUOzce6
