Am I smart to not get involved in team sport brawls?

Usually the whole team joins in and it becomes a shitshow. The more that join in the more out of hand it gets. Some shouldn't even get involved imo. I'd rather just watch from a distance. You can really get fucked up and nobody wins. I still want to help my teammates if they're in trouble.

Pepper Spray Ca Law?

Is it legal to buy larger units of pepper spray for home protection then just the measly 2.5 oz CA allows you to have for on person carry?

When can you use lethal force to defend your property?

I hope this is the right place for this, I have searched Reddit for an appropriate venue.

The couple in St. Louis has gotten me thinking of scenarios and I realize they were already on private property due to being in a gated community so I am not asking about their particular situation. I know the rules vary wildly from state to state so I am not asking for a blanket answer for the entire U.S. either. Here is my question and I would love any simple answers people may know especially as they apply to castle-doctrine states, so here goes:

If you have a large mob on a public street and they are carrying molotovs or other sufficient means as to destroy your home or business or other property, how aggressive do they have to get before you engage? Do you have to wait until they have thrown the molotov to shoot? (At which point it's too late) And if so, now that they're unarmed and no-longer in possession of a weapon is it even still legal to engage them? Do you have to time it when they are winding up for a throw? I have searched for an answer to this in forums and several other places and am still at a loss.

My libertarian side has no problem with armed protestors, but certain weapons don't lend themselves to allowing defense of property. It bothers me that law abiding citizens have ROE but protestors don't.

I just tried to join USCCA

I live in Washington state and I’m waiting for my CCW and I looked into carry insurance and decided to go with US CCA. I then discovered that Washington state has banned all these types of companies from providing self-defense assistance. Basically they refer to it as murder insurance and will not allow it. Now I am nervous about concealed carry because if I end up having to protect my life it is possible that I have to go to trial and fund my defense myself. Are there any other options that people in Washington state and New York are doing? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3igz1xA

I just came across this pistol from WPS and am interested but I couldn't find much in the way of holsters for it.Forgive me for my ignorance but this is modeled after the G19, correct? S&W 9M EZ too big to carry?

Hi everyone,New to the CCW game. Recently I purchased a brand new S&W 9M EZ which has been great. I have put close to 300+ rounds through it and I am very comfortable operating it. I recently figured now that I am comfortable with it I am going to start daily carrying it. Unfortunately it’s just too large to conceal without printing. I am 6’1 200LBS and tend to wear tighter clothes but even when I threw on a bigger shirt you could still tell I had a firearm on me.I am thinking the Ruger LCP might be a better daily carry for me and use the 9MM for home/car defense. What are your thoughts on this? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2AlrX1A

No Nearby Rentals for Handgun: What to do?

I'm looking to purchase my first handgun as I turn 21 in the coming months. After much thought, I'm pretty interested in the SA Hellcat. I'm a small guy, the double-stack-in-a-single-stack package is very appealing to me, and I like some of the design choices better than those of the P365. The gun is relatively new, and I don't have a lot of gun shops around me, let alone shops with ranges that rent out guns. Local gun shows are cancelled for a few months from now and I'd have to drive ~2 hours to a shop just to handle one, and as far as I can tell no one on this side of my state has one to rent. What have some of you done in this sort of situation? Is handling a gun good enough to bite the bullet and warrant a purchase? I would be more comfortable with doing so with a full-size/compact gun, however I know micro-guns such as the Hellcat have a reputation for being snappy. Thanks via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2BnqCrt

South Florida - Unable to apply for permit

I hate posting a location-specific question, but I keep hitting dead ends and am making a last ditch effort for a solution.I'm in Palm Beach County, and cannot apply for a CCW permit. The Department of Agriculture is closed due to COVID, with the exception of the Tallahassee office. My county's tax office doesn't process carry permits. I checked neighboring counties that do (as well as their neighbors) but they are all restricting services and will only serve citizens of that county. To mail an application, I need to provide fingerprints from a law enforcement agency. Both the city and county have suspended fingerprinting due to COVID, so that's not an option either.I'm curious if anyone down here has figured out how to apply for a permit during these times outside of driving 820 miles round trip to Tallahassee. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3dHBNIv

Help finding a specific holster.

Small-framed lady trying to find something that conceals Glock 43x

Basically what the title says. I am trying to conceal my glock 43x on a relatively small body frame. I currently have a hand-me-down AIWB holster from a large frame man that is getting my by, but it certainly doesn't conceal very well with any of my clothes, regardless of how baggy.I walk, run, and hike frequently and would like to do so with my firearm.I've been looking at belly bands, especially crossbreed or tactica ones with the kydex holsters built in, but I'm afraid if they protrude too much the printing will be too obvious. I am skeptical of the hip hugger type bands because there isn't a solid trigger guard to prevent accidental/malicious trigger pulls through the material.I am also looking at some of the inner thigh holster shorts to wear with dresses in the summer, but it's the same concern about being able to pull the trigger through the material.I want to conceal on body if at all humanly possible, and I will not change up my firearm just to conceal easier because I am comfortable with the 43x and it makes sense tactically for myself and partner (shared magazines, higher magazine capacity as opposed to my .380, etc.)Any suggestions are welcome! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Bbu48F

Recommendation needed: Athletic shorts(don't hate plz)

Don't flame me but I regularly carry in Athletic shorts. Full time WFH and wife has also been WFH due to The 'Vid. So I might throw a button up on a couple times a week for Zoom calls but mostly I'm in a Tshirt and shorts. Walk the dogs 3 times a day and since we live downtown in a major city I stay strapped(so as not to get clapped). Carry a Shield in a Vedder at 4 oclock, and I have found that the wide elastic waistband combined with the stretchy drawstring keeps the gun relatively secure. I'd like to get a couple more pair but in an attempt to not continue to drop $90 on a pair of shorts I am looking for other options. Any suggestions? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3eV5nvu

Cycling and Carrying?

This may be a weird question, but are there any of you out there who cycle and carry? I do long rides in sometimes remote places and have considered carrying but don't know where I'd be able to conceal besides my hydration pack for comfort and safety. Self defense for female Census workers

I was recently hired as a Census enumerator in a large high-crime urban district. I'm very familiar with the neighborhood and I am comfortable handling myself in urban environments. I consider myself quite street-savvy and I'm pretty good at identifying potentially dangerous situations amd environments. That said, I am also a 5'0" 105lb female and I will be canvassing by myself, so some of my friends/family are understandably concerned for my safety. Just for their peace of mind I told them they would be sending us in pairs, even though I know that's not true.

Training doesn't start for another few weeks, but from what I've been told the unofficial policy on self-defense is basically a "don't ask don't tell" kind of a deal - obviously if I were to outright ask "Can I carry mace?" the answer would be no, lol...but as long as I don't make a big deal about it it seems I can equip myself however I see fit.

So, should I invest in some pepper spray? Or a knife? I was thinking of getting one of those "cat claw" folding knives you grip in your hand and then when you deploy the blade it springs out from your closed fist...it would be ideal if I could find something I could keep in my hand at all times without having to worry about fumbling in my pockets or my messenger bag. Several people have also suggested pepper spray, but I assume I would need to keep it in some kind of holster or something...?

(Oh and just as a sidenote, I do know assaulting a Census worker is a federal crime, I'm more concernederned about the odd individual who just flat-out hates the government and isn't going to give a shit whether they're committing a crime by shooting me in the face lol.)

When you feel peer pressure from a group of people to fight how should you handle it?

People saying stuff like "common let's go," "get in there, stop being a pussy," "dude just do it," etc. If I don't know them I can easily walk away but if it's people I know and I know I'm gonna see them everyday I care more. I know I gotta be strong, think for myself, and let go of my ego, but in the moment it can be hard. You feel like they're ganging up on you and it's possible that they are (which is real danger.)

CCW in New Orleans/French Quarter?

Hey all,I know the laws more or less, I've done my research, but the one piece I cannot find is if you CC into a prohibited place, let's say by accident, you think it's a restaurant, but it's really a bar, etc, and *somehow* you end up getting caught by police. What is the penalty? What level of offense is it? In Texas, it's a Class C Misdemeanor and it is, frankly, worth the risk if I'm talking about saving my or my wife's life. But I cannot afford anything more than a Class C on my record, so I need to know how hard to check into each establishment in the French Quarter before walking in and having a seat.Note, I CC a very small gun, I don't print to the point any normal person notices it ,but sometimes security guards and cops are a bit more savvy. I just don't think New Orleans is a very safe place and I would rather carry everywhere. Concealed.Yes, I know all the caveats about getting legal advise from the internet. Just wondering if someone knows the degree of offense it would be to simply accidentally carry (with legal CHL) into a place like a bar. I'm not trying to carry into a courthouse or something.SC via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3eNINVW

Best empty handed discipline to learn

I carry concealed 99% of the time. More and more, however, I’m realizing how woefully ill prepared I am for any sort of encounter that doesn’t justify/require a firearm. In short: I have no idea how to fight. For background: I’m 5’8” and weight between 130 and 140, depending on my cycling training at the time (I race bikes). I have proportionally very poor upper body strength, but very high lower body strength (again- I race bikes).I have a wife, 2 kids, and a third on the way. I don’t have massive time to train, but could work in a class or 2 per week. What discipline would you all recommend? Basically I don’t want to win street fights, but if someone is able to get with arms reach i want to be able to defend myself- at least until I can get to my gun.I consider myself very hyper-aware of my surroundings- but I want more options available other than “use gun”. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/38bc7D9
