Finally have to admit one SMALL drawback to .40 S&W

Just a small one. A .40 for my full size is great, but Its not what I'd choose for a compact. This means running two diff ammos. Just a slight inconvenience I guess.Fully admitted .40 apologist. When I bought my last full size I was on the fence about 9 vs 40. (Yeah yeah, I know the arguments).Leaned towards .40 because my first personally owned pistol was a .40 (an original release Walther p99) that was great. I was impressed with it. Meanwhile, my first 9mm experience was with military M9 service pistols. Color me UNIMPRESSED.FWIW I know its unfair to judge a whole caliber by one gun and probably unfair to judge a gun by only some mil armory issue. Like judging every Nissan Versa by the hard worn beaters at Thrifty car rental.Still, first impressions run deep and all. To this day I turn my nose up at the 92 series. No big deal. Found a deal on a brand spanking new VP40 that I wouldn't have turned down anyways. (under 450$ out the door, factory new in box). 100% happy with it. Shoots great, but then the VPs seem to shoot well anyways, perhaps in spite of "but .40 tho".Still, I'm realizing if I want to CC, especially in T shirt weather, I'm going to want something a little more compact.Do I want to try wrestling .40 in a subC? No. Not really. No prob, but that's when I realize, gee if I'd gone 9mm, I could go 9 in the compact too, and only have to bother stocking one type of ammo. Not a huge deal, but it would be a convenience.Just saying, having to do it all over again, "feeding both guns the same food" would definitely be one more mark in the "9mm Pros" column. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2v4kUoc
