We are interviewing a potential babysitter today that would be babysitting in our home. Should we let her know there are firearms in the house?

They are locked in a safe but I sort of feel like she should know they are there for precautionary safety reasons (not letting kiddo mess with the safe) via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2z5UMfL

My CC holster finally came today. Proud owner of a Smith and Wesson SD9VE.

EDC S&W M&P 2.0

Is anyone here carrying the compact M&P 2.0? I'm in the market for a new CCW. I currently carry a Glock, and like the 19. I also like the M&P, it's just that I'm not sure how comfortable that grip will be IWB. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2zamuaR

One of those rules people tend to gloss over when they are a CCW holder.

Being a CCW holder means you have a tool in your possession to handle a situation - not the first tool, either, mind you. Being aware of your surrounding, following the instinct that warns you when your in danger, and being able to understand that your firearm is your LAST point of defense - because if you've gotten beyond that you've forgotten the first rule of preparation - don't put yourself in the situation where the firearm is needed to begin with. Good self defense instructors will teach you that. Good CCW instructors will teach you that. Life experience will (hopefully) teach you everything else. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2zoqkxR

PPQ owners chime in. Anyone got a 5" I think I want one

Can get a good price on a 5" Standard and thinking of pulling the trigger. Wanting a longer barreled pistol, and when comparing prices to 1911s (Ruger and Springfield), for what could be my laser shooter I came across this new model at a good price. Plus, I really like the look of 4", but love the looks of the 5". Holster options fairly limited it seems, it could sometimes be carried OWB in winter when feeling like leaving on an over garment when going out to eat and stuff. Wish it could come with factory night sights....but, maybe this would be the pistol I put a wml on prob tlr-1hl if I do. Figure would pick up one 20 rd Canick mag to go with it.Tell me about it, balance and accuracy? Is their hate for the rear sights? Anyone got 5" holster recommendations? Anyone carry it sometimes? Are quick double taps just kind of crazy to master with this trigger with a little time put into it?Anyone have to deal with Walther Customer Service the last few years, and if so how was it? Any major problems with any model PPQ you have? Are PPQ's really that much harder to conceal than Glocks (weird sizes, shapes print more)? I'll see if I can rent one somewhere tomorrow possibly, when function testing a pistol coming back to me I have to pick up. Thanks via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2z5ODOk

USPSA style drills?

HowdyDo any of you compete in IDPA/USPSA or other shooting competitions? If so, do you find that the pistol stages would translate well into regular training and self defense?Over time, my friends and I have been slowly evolving from handguns to rifles to long distance shooting and now we really would like to get into running pistol drills (more for fun than competition). For exampleNo matter how you feel about Lucas and his "tacticoolness" he does offer pretty good advice and is a pretty good competitive shooter. I have access to BLM land in California where I could set up multiple paper targets/steel targets in any way I want with barricades similar to this using construction safety barriers. Also, does anyone have any example stages I could set up and try? I tried to find them online on different forums and what not but I'm falling short.Thanks. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2z391zx
