Do you know that United States actually has its very own martial arts system? Developed by Marines and for Marines MCMAP a real combat martial art, not a sport. Civilians can also study it for self-defense.
Like traditional martial arts of the East, MCMAP also has philosophical/ethical component. It strives to develop an Ethical Warrior who embodies core Marine values.
MCMAP manual with techniques is available on Amazon. Book "Ethical Warrior" by Jack Hoban describes the ethical side.
