State/County: PA Non-Resident (York County)Processing Time: 27 clock hours from application to approval, picked up 2 days later as you must pick up in person and that was when I’d planned my trip to PA for other business.Gear/Planned Setup: Same stuff I always carry (usually a Glock 23 or 27, sometimes a Sig 1911). Whatever gun I want at the time, can carry anything I legally possess.Training Completed/Scheduled: None required by PA, much taken over the decades I've been carryingThoughts:PA AG is an asshole. They used to recognize my VA Permit but stopped despite VA being harder to get. Had to find a PA County that will issue non-resident as many will not (including the county I was born in). PA recognizes UT resident permits but not non-resident permits despite the requirements being the same to obtain either - and both being more difficult to get than PA.York County Sheriff's deputies, on the other hand, were fabulous. I called to ask if it might be processed in a three day period as I had a planned, but short notice, trip and the deputy said "probably, but no guarantees as there are about 80 applications in the queue ahead of you" when I called. 27 hours clock time (of which the where only open ~12 hours) later I received a notice it was ready for pickup. In other words, they processed at least 80 applications in 12 business hours. All other states should take notice. Not sure if this is COVID only, but had to select an appointment time to pickup. Online system and 10 minute slots. Very easy to schedule. All application and scheduling steps were completed online from the comfort of my home.Show up, give DL to verify ID, stand there for photo (which is why you must pick up in person - they take your photo), they print out and laminate while you stand there, out the door. Only took a few minutes and would have taken less except that we jawed about the DC permit and the hassles to get that one.NOTE: To get a PA permit you must have your home state permit. And they track expiration of your HOME state permit. You must send them a copy of your home state permit when you renew. Deputy said they mail out a reminder letter 2 months prior to your HOME state permit expiring. If you do not send them the renewed permit your PA permit is void. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3qAU9RX
