Questions about defending me and my girlfriends mom

About 3-4 days out of the week I spend over at my girlfriends moms house. She just recently got out of a relationship and is a little scared. We don’t believe anything will happen but because I’m the only who carries I don’t know the laws when it comes to defending myself in someone else’s home.
