Do you ever worry about who’s really asking?…

Do you ever worry about who’s really asking about self defense: techniques, weapons, defense strategies? I feel like some questions that come up sometimes are actually from people wanting to know so they can prepare themselves for what a person is taught in classes and on videos to counter the defense.

Obviously we don’t know who is posting and asking these questions, but sometimes maybe taking a moment to question who’s posting about certain things and (only) glancing at their profile will prevent assistance of these sinister motivations.

If you see something along the lines of rapekink or other subs that could lead you to believe their interest is in more than self defense, please just move along; leave them alone but don’t give them the answer - don’t harass them either, but do be as mindful as possible about those you’re responding to.

From a poster who’s being stalked, I’ve questioned this very thing when certain questions come up out of concern for my safety; though not specific to the sub mentioned thankfully; that was just an example of possible problematic subs someone might be posting or sharing on. Also going to say their interest in that or other subs doesn’t automatically mean they have dark motives.

I must say this, too: Thank you for understanding from a concerned sub dweller. And yes, I’m going to take in-person classes to have the best chance of defending myself should I ever have to. The information here has overall been helpful in that.

I hope the mods allow this post, because it is important. It follows all the sub and Reddit rules.
