Any tips to prevent arguments?

Any phrases which you use to prevent any type of arguments from happening?

I find myself indulging in arguments easily without thinking about the consequences.

Is it important to throw the 1st punch if needed?

I'm talking about a situation where its getting heated and you feel at any moment a punch could be thrown. I've heard that you're at a disadvantage out the gates if you're getting punched at first. Makes sense because you don't have time to react and it happens in a split second but I don't know if you're dead meat.

Unless its a cheap shot when you aren't looking or you have bad awareness I feel you can at least gather yourself to defend and counter. I just want clarity on this.

Pepper Spray & Stun Gun

Hi all Not sure if this is the correct place to post.

Basically me and my bestie (both fem in our early 20s) are visiting Vegas and LA for two weeks.

We’re originally from a very small country with not much crime (i.e. two women can safely walk on the streets at night without being assaulted or mugged etc etc etc).

With that being said, one of us has lived in London for four years and both of us are from Brazil so we do have a lot of street smarts, but you can never be too careful, especially not knowing the areas and not having an American accent.

Would you ladies (or gents) recommend us carrying some pepper spray and/or a mini stun gun just in case? Would these items be allowed in bars/ stores/ restaurants in case our bags get checked?

Any useful info on navigating the cities at night safely or any areas to avoid would be appreciated as well. I personally have had traumatic experiences with men so I’m terrified of being in a situation where I’m helpless.
