I couldn't add more characters in the title, so that is how I decided to write it – I am aware it is possible.
So hypothetically, if I get in a situation where I have to defend, myself or somebody else, and if the circumstances are so in which I decide to hit the person in the head (as people do in fights, which I hope I never run into, but hope is not enough), thinking about it, it worries me, what if the hit I do is fatal? That would definitely not be an intended outcome, but every other consideration seems illogical for one's own survival in a moment that it's endangered. Should I, in a life threatening situation, think on how hard should I hit an attacker, gauging the risk of it being fatal in such intense situation (with even then the risk existing)?
Also, this is my first time on this subreddit, while I can surely imagine other mitigations that are better, you can't expect an average person to possess such agility, coordination, knowledge and practice to be able to neutralize threat with no risk of causing more than harm as a by-product than an experienced professional. Most people would have to rely on their physical defense insticts, rather than face possibly fatal consequences themselves – it could even be the only theoretical defense as well (if fight is already initiated and you are hurt already, and you don't happen to have a black belt to professionally incapacitate a person, which raises a question - should you always resort to hitting less vital areas?)
I tried my best to not make this sound concerning, but be assured that this is just that one impulsive adrenaline inducing random thought that keeps me awake at night, a what-if scenario, and I can't get over what if my action of defense could cause them to die.
