Did I Overreact?

The other evening, around 9 o'clock, my girlfriend and I went to go get something to eat. On the way home, I heard tire squealing from a vehicle behind us. They were driving aggressively and somewhat erratically, and so I was paying a lot of attention to the rear view mirror, and I got the feeling that they were actually following us.So I calmly informed my girlfriend of my suspicion, and told her that I was going to pull off onto a service road that goes behind some hotels, and if they followed, I was going to unholster my gun. So, I pull off, and so did they. I actually slowed to a stop, and they did the same, about 5 car lengths back. Now with pistol in one hand and flashlight in the other, I let my girlfriend know that I'm going to head towards the police station, and I take off in a way that leaves no doubt that they were in fact following us.After a mile or so, I decide that they are probably just idiot kids being idiot kids, and I slow down. They finally turn off, and I head home, still paying extra attention to the mirrors. We can't think of anything that could have provoked the situation, and the girlfriend was less than pleased with the way I handled it. She's not at all opposed to me carrying, or even the various firearms lying around our shared home, but she was pretty freaked out when the gun came out. Was it an overreaction? I wasn't waving the gun around or anything, and as I see it, the only things I probably shouldn't have done were stop on that service road, or drive in a way that probably just encouraged them. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3oLabeP
