I checked the FAQ and did a quick search of the term “budget”, but it seems that most of the posts (most recent was about 11 months ago) that refer to budgeting discuss people wanting to purchase a new handgun. My question is how much do you spend a month on all the other maintenance, training, and incidentals? My current situation is this: I'm on a strict budget and have discretionary income of $150 per month to cover restaurants, entertainment, and whatever else I want. An hour of range time near me is $20 (cheapest membership for the year is $500 or $200 but range will still be $10 per hour, also I'm going to be moving across the state in 6-9 months and then it would be unrealistic to travel to that range). I haven’t bought ammo in a while because I have about 1,000 rounds of FMJ laying around that I’ve gathered through bartering and such; however, I’ve learned through this sub that I really should practice with ammo that is similar to the ammo I will keep in my CCW. I’m also getting ready to experiment with switching from Hornady 115 gr Critical defense to either Federal 147 gr HST or 124 gr HST (depending on felt recoil, but I’m leaning towards the 147 gr based on the lucky gunner ballistics data from the FAQ revealing median penetration under 18 inches with the 147 gr and the median penetration with the 124 gr being 18.4 inches, which is greater than the FBI standard). This switch is partially because u/brad1242 shared a way to get HST at much lower price (approximately $0.42 per round) than the Critical Defense (approximately $0.72 per round) and the fact that the HST had better penetration and greater expansion than the Critical Defense. I also understand the importance of a good belt and holster and I have purchased an SG holster. I am currently saving for a better belt than my current Galco and my birthday/holiday wish list is filled with items related to CCW. Some of you may ask where my money is going and if I can realign my budget to support my CCW goal, but sadly other debt is absorbing the bulk of my funds (looking at you student loans and medical bills).Any help or insights you could offer would be really appreciated, even if you just shared your budgetary breakout, I could figure out what reasonable prices for services are.Thanks. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2iDrrlq
